Requested from /pt/ so we don't clog up stuff. Post about your favourite horror/survival horror games, the good and the bad. (No judgements here if you like SH: Downcoming)

I've only played the Fatal Frame that was remastered for the Wii, and it was freaking amazing.

No. 3406

The void.

I just got in on gog.com (it's like steam and v safe) it's a good game. Difficult, and really unusual (you have to live on colours basically).

It's pretty neat if someone's looking for an artsy unusual game with a little horror thrown in.

for the wii????? wat, I didn't know it was available on the wii

is it the same as the ps1 ps2 ones but just remastered for the wii?

No. 3409

i couldnt handle fatal frame, i think if the mechanics weren't so fucking shitty it wouldn't be so bad. but switching from 3rd person to 1st person, clunky movements, not being able to find good film etc just added frustration to the fear and i gave up.

i really am interested in Hideo's silent hill, but I think i might be too chicken for it, honestly, but the hope that big boss or snake could be a bonus outfit or easter egged in there someway makes me want to try when it comes out

Here you go, explains what differences there are better than I can.

No. 3417

Oh my god, I have the original Resident Evil remastered for the Wii, the controls are backwards, meaning moving the nunchuk joystick to the left makes the character go right. Fucking annoying. Also whatever you had to collect to be able to use to save on the typewriter were nearly none existent, as were ammo, shitty aiming, camera not going where you want it to be, slow movements. I have only got about 15 mins into it, died and had to start over because no saves.

I was genuinely frightened by the p.t. demo. I did NOT expect that at all, I play a lot of horror. I lost it when I could see the ghost behind me in the mirror just leaning into my ear. I couldn't finish it.

Fuck The Void. The game is hard as hell to complete and you frequently have to restart from the beginning unless you manage your resources perfectly. Even following a walkthrough it's easy to fail and have to restart.

I did like the game but I quit after like the 10th restart. You can definitely tell it's a Russian game both from the style and the difficulty. It's not a scary game though, much more of a puzzle game.

The game pissed off a lot of feminists when it came out which was actually how I found out about it. Something about the Sisters being submissive eye candy that must be saved by the player or whatever.

Fuck, I'm with ya, anon. I'm obsessed with horror movies, books and games and it freaked me the fuck out. I'm a pussy so I have no idea why I'm so fascinated by horror, but I'll tell it to my psychiatrist. I get so wet thinking about the release of this game.

i think the scariest part of PT is turning the corner and shes standing under the light twitching, then the light goes out and you dont know where she went. also when you look up at that part and shes randomly above you looking down over the railing.

No. 3443

You know, a great mini horror type game is Limbo. Well, it's not ACTUALLY horror, except in the way the kid dies, but it's the closest thing I've played that reaches the kind of atmospheric setting that Silent Hill does.

It's beautiful and the puzzles are simple and fun. The random deaths are pretty creative too.

It's available on Steam and PSN.

I'm tempted to give this a look over now since you guys said it was really good.

And lol. It doesn't surprise me about feminist, I bet they actually haven't played the game. They heard about it, saw a screenshot and made an inference that it was bad/sexist. It's like a weird horseshoe effect now. Do you remember when it was rightwingers in the 90s all 'GAMES ARE BAD AND EVIL AND VIOLENCE AND TOO SEXY' and now it's leftwing wackjobs going on about how games are bad and violence and women and minorities.

It's the same thing, different era. Though in the 90s devs went 'lol, fuck it' and ignored them but these days these sjws asshats are getting traction and that worries me.

But I remember the stink about new Tomb Raider and the almost rape scene which was written BY a woman! And so many bitching about how Far Cry 4 was another white main character and then SURPRISE! Was a POC lol. Just lol. SJWs don't game. They think they do, but only to further their shitty agenda.

Holy shit, I've played it and I didn't even realise it was supposed to be an attempted rape scene until I saw your post and googled it. It was pretty tastefully done. Fucking hell, dumblr.

No. 3487

>>3480

Yeah. It's not bad. There are some really violent moments in the new Tomb Raider (the instant deaths bro) but I liked the overall story a lot. It gave Lara a lot more depth and built up a nice backstory and the game played decently well.

But IDK what they expected. These dudes have been on an island for who knows many years without women. You gotta infer that some of them would be morally ambiguous enough or crazed to try something.

No. 3515

>>3487

Wow though, it just confuses me that they would have such a big problem with it when it's not 'sexualised' at all. Surely it'd be worse if nobody mentioned rape ever as if it's something that doesn't actually happen? Although it's not like radfems are notorious for being easy going, well-rounded people I guess.

also sorry for getting OT

yeah i have no idea if he is still going to work on it or not. they removed his name from all of the promotional photos for MGSV already, its creepy like they are trying to erase his existence

he's been demoted to a "contracted developer" or some shit starting april 1st, though his actual contract is supposed to end in december. However it's been said that he is expected to leave when MGSV is done, so I don't know wtf that means for Silent Hills. I know Del Toro has a contract with Konami for it, but he's friends with Kojima so if Kojima isn't working on it I don't know how they will effect Del Toro's give-a-shit for the project.

I hope he will stay on for Silent Hills but it's a Konami title and if they don't want to work with him anymore I can only assume he's going to be booted off the project. Fucking sucks. I'm worried about MGSV too, as they still have 6 months to come in and fuck it up before its released.

Nintendo announced that Fatal Frame IV will be brought stateside and released on the WiiU.

I'm actually really excited because I've thought the WiiU tablet would be the perfect use for the camera obscura so I can't wait to play it.

I wish we could get a real release of Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse here but I've settled for just watching a playthrough of it since it's sort of a prequel.

I know I'm gonna sound like a 12-year old edgelord, but does anyone have recommendations for Flash/Unity/browser/Steam horror games. I don't have a system right now and I'm saving money to get make a new gaming computer. The laptop I'm currently using is really shit, so I can't play anything too heavy. For example, lately I've been a fan of "The Last Door".

That Last Door is soooo good anon. So good.

Actually, I do have a good recommendation if you enjoyed that one. If you take a look at Chzo Mythos series, it's done by Yahtzee and they're subtly creepy and not too graphics heavy. The first game is here: http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/5days/ They are free as well! I quite liked them. There are four in total.

you know they will. apparently they made a statement that they plan on making more silent hill and metal gear titles, but obviously not with kojima or del toro. like anyone is going to give a shit about those games now. i bet what they meant by making new games is just making fucking pachinko machines or shitty mobile games, which is what they seem like they're steering towards rather than consoles. i heard they even disbanded their DDR and other rhythm game teams, just putting them in a general "audio" team.

The horror genre has been dead since Rule of Rose, Dementium the Ward if you want to be fair.

Pretty unrelated to your post but oh my god, Haunting Ground

It wasn't even that great a game, the cutscenes are hilariously bad for the most part, the game kind of changes quite a lot around the halfway point, the plot has hundreds of holes in it and it's essentially softcore horror for weebs but somehow it's one of my favourite games and I can't recommend it enough.

It's still better than the hundreds of Slendershit games that appear whenever you visit indie gaming sites and search under Horror.

No. 4970

Agreed. I'm gonna sound like a bit of an elitist prick here but it kinda baffles me how people liked Slender and FNAF. They're kinda iPhone-tier, fun enough if you're bored but not really all that enjoyable.

Not judging anyone for being into them, I just think it gets old pretty fast when the entire game is just the same thing happening again and again.

They're probably popular because of YouTube faggots doing Lets Plays of them rather than them actually being more enjoyable though.

aw yeah I loved Daniella too

I can dig this. I liked the idea of doing a SH that wasn't city based but more about the cult and it's influence around Silent Hill like Wish House and such. With a female protag that has doppleganger syndrome (taken from Silent Hills) and has to do a bit of backtracking to find out who she is and what she has to do with a cult.

Sorry, I think about SH a lot lol I wish they'd do more with the cult honestly
