Requested from anon in /pt/, discuss Gaiafaggotry from your days using the site, to the CEO being a cocksucker, drama, etc. Posts of your avatars, current or old, are also welcome.

So what exactly is going on with the TekTek situation? I know there's the take down note bc the creator was advertising their own site (which Gaia considers a "competitor") in the ads while using Gaia's Intellectual property, but they've been doing this for 10+ years, there's a forum on the site DEDICATED to tekteking things for other people, and they even link to it in their PMs the Welcome Fairy sends.

No. 3367

I was there since 2003, but my activity was pretty sporadic until 2005 to 2013. I really, really loved Mariko eyes and the last happy memory I have is when the purple ones came out because let's be real here the Mariko and Kanoko eyes are basically the same aside from such minor pixel differences in the irises.

I liked helping out in LI, but I hated LD with a passion for being (as I mentioned in /pt/) Tumblr-lite before that site even existed. Even from a quick glance now, I can still see some of the same old losers skulking around that forum and touting their "reg" status as if it means anything in the real world.

No. 3368

Long shot: but does anyone remember there being a 'famous' emo boy on GD who tons of people loved? People kept speculating that they were actually a girl, but they always denied it (cue 'flamewars' as they were known in those days) until one day they finally admitted they were a girl.

I don't even know why I remember this.

The thing I always thought was retarded was the hate that some people got for using Gaia for nothing more than a mere dress-up website, especially from the chan community. Like, did you really not expect girls on the internet to not like cute pixels on a dress-up game? Especially with cosplay items becoming available and better items in later years?

Pic related, here is one of the last things I made before jumping ship.

Sith Lord Ali?

No. 3377

I remember this one time I was really out of it and tired, and my cousin was browsing through her page (or whatever blog shit thing), and I saw a pic of this dude and I said "hey, he's cute" (he wasn't honestly, angles and sleepiness can do weird ass shit–).

Turns out, the boy was her friend, and that he was having a virtual marriage like really soon, and he told his fiancee, and she turned all dramatic and called off the damn wedding.

I didn't really care tho, but my cousin was mad because they were both her friends or something?

Other than that, all I saw were weebs even before I knew what one was. Still full of weebs today, the population is low, but I lurk around Fashion and Lifestyle threads (even though I feel they are the slowest).

Lastly, to this day, I refuse to open my old account I made when I was like 12 or 13 because I had some dumb shit I would cringe at today. Eugh

No. 3378

I don't play Gaia a lot but I did get this hilarious ban message:

>It was banned because you decided to post several of these subject materials:

-Speculation as to the nature of My Little Pony feces;

-Expressed a desire to become buttsexed by several donkeys;

-Described circumstances under which you buttsexed yourself with a stick of butter, and also potentially incriminated yourself by describing how you buttsexed yourself with apples in a grocery store;

-Described how you engaged in bestiality with the throat of a decapitated bird;

And others.

The ban is permanent. (As is the ban you probably just received on the account filing this ticket.)

There's this bitch I know who is almost 21 years old and still plays Gaia. Not just off and on, but she is seriously on there (or tumblr) for at least 16 hours a day. She also pays money for gold and asks for Gaia gift cards for Christmas.

Yeah I guess it was cool in middle school but wow way to be a fucking faggot. I overheard her say she was "the Queen of te Chatterbox" or something. Wow.

No. 3396

Holy shit, I just started playing again. I actually have gold now, but damn there's so much p2p. You can get married, there's animated items and everything costs an assload more (monthlies on the marketplace are like a couple mil to billions as well as reg items going for 1000s). Inflation hit Gaia like a sack of bricks. You usually get more from the daily chance.

Somehow I managed to find my gaia username and password. I haven't used the site since 2009 I think.

This is my avatar and it's sugoi weeaboo aesthetic.

P.S I checked the price of my meme scarf on the marketplace, it's worth like a billon gaia gold now lol

No. 3404

I remember finding Go Gaia in 2003 but I've had various accounts since then and they may have deleted my old accounts, or I can't remember the names.

I hung out in the art area mostly and I never ventured outside of it. Even at that time prices were pretty expensive for exclusive items but when I checked back years later the e-commerce had exploded.

The layout is awful and there are so many things to customize - a house, car, aquarium, and not to mention your own page. I just can't keep up with it all so I gave my friend all my cash since she still plays it.

This. I've had like two accounts, one from 05 (but then I got banned for being underage) and one from like 07-08 ish up til 2011 or so. I made some friends on the site and it was actually fun, but that shit has run its course.
I can't really believe there are still people browsing it, honestly. After visiting the homepage a few months ago, I immediately realized it'd turned into a shitshow.

The LI had the reg thing too, I cant tell you how many people defend the shit I say because I am a reg. It is just less cirlejerking than the LD.

No. 3667

>>3638
The LI people I hated the most were that angel bitch with all of the numbers after her name. She's nasty for absolutely no reason at all and has no room to be, because the bitch is Ita as fuck and a weeb shit. She shouldn't be such a retard and link a FB photo knowing people can just take the middle numbers to find the profiles.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151993255090471&set=a.10150283726320471.507017.587810470&type=1

The other is both in LD and LI, Blackrose Knight. Fat as fuck, massive SJW, always screaming about how she's poly and everyone in the world will also be poly someday and how anyone who is in a monogamous relationship is selfish and controlling. Going to school to be a psych and god knows she'll be forcing her lifestyle onto her own patients. I saw her in a thread in LI once where she was urging a guy to stay with someone he lost interest in AND keep the new love interest, even though the guy made it clear that he wasn't interested in his then boyfriend anymore. Bitch is a fucking joke.

People on Gaia are so stupid, it'd ridiculously easy to make money. I've been buying April 2015 collectible letters for 14b and reselling them as Seraphic Fox for 18b all day. Who is buying these is beyond me

No. 4639

Once when I was a kid playing Gaia, I stole my mom's card to buy a shit load of monthly collectables so I could sell them and be gaia rich. But then the next morning she called a bunch of places for a refund (had spent about $40, I was fucking 12.), and Gaia had to give it back. My account, and everyone that bought items from me were banned.

I'm 99% sure I'm the reason why they started that rule that you had to wait a certain time after you buy monthly collectables before you could sell it. That rule started like a few days after that incident.

I actually attended the 'Gaia prom' in NYC around 2006 or 2007 and still have my shirt from that meetup. It's pretty much what you expected, but at least we got free stuff, including gaia cards with 1,000 gold or whatever.

I went to a panel at a con before… and caught a CoCo Kitty keychain over the head of someone who was probably 10. I didn't feel bad about it since technically they shouldn't have been there because the minimum age for the site is 13… and I was an edgy 15 year old. Still have that keychain, btw.

I also believe it was a softball team that they had as a company that did rec leagues and stuff.

No. 55906

I was a GD faggot arguing about how important emo music was. I fucking hated some chick in there whose username was Xyloid, even though these days what I remember of her seems fucking hilarious and she was probably cool.

idk. Unless she was a ridiculously under-developed 13 year-old… but I doubt that. Her parents could've been standing in the back–monitoring her, maybe? But still. She probably was too young.

I still get on Gaia sometimes… but all I do is Dumpster Dive to get new shit (when it's not those damn Alchemy Caches) and mess with my avatar.

No. 56533

Before tektek died I checked to see how much my old account's outfit was worth and it was over a trillion, I can't believe how crazy the currency inflation is.

>>55771
I went to a panel they had at a convention and even ran into someone I knew on the main board I posted in.

When they had the panel it was right before they started their online mmo thing so we all received an exclusive ring item. It sold for a shitton of gold before it was revealed to be some really crappy stat boost item for the game, and after that the value dropped to like 1k gold.

No. 56572

Were any of you ATers/GCDers, out of curiosity? That's basically where I spent most of my time. I will credit Gaia for giving me a fantastic eye for color and matching shit because of the standards the AT had for that sort of thing.

No. 56587

>>56572
God yes.

I moved to GCD and lurked AT after the GD started its death throes. The bitterness I had for people with those OMG hats and coco kitty's was intense. My best friend had them and the nightmare scarf and held it over me so hard.

Nobody ever utilized the pixie enough. It was cute as hair clips.

No. 56627

>>56587
I loved the pixie hair clips! Used to use them a lot. At one point I had Angelic minis and winged anklets because of the shit economy, but they've kind of lost their novelty… and I sold them off for other shit. Though I did trade the minis for Garage Band Baby, which was a great choice on my part.

I used to go on Gaia quite frequently but then came the inevitable day when my main account (a really old one, I think I literally started the year that Gaia came into being) got hacked and the mod squad's solution was to lock it down and fling it into the abyss rather than help me recover any of my inventory. heck, I would have been happy with just getting the name back.
Anyways, I had some mules left with good stuff on 'em, so I kept playing, but it was never quite the same. The only thing I really get on for nowadays is to make outfits and continue this one supernatural guild roleplay that I've kept up for like, eight years now…it makes me sort of depressed at times because I'm like 'damn, this is enough material to write a book' but compiling it all would be such a bitch and a half.
