I just watched pic related and thought it was fucking great. Why do people defend the pedophile character? It's pretty well-underlined that he was a shit person, whether or not he killed the missing girl.

Thats what I was wondering when I first saw it

on another note, I was always wondering whether Kevin hated his mom or was actually in love with her as some people suggested

hmm I guess like people view Hayley as being just as bad or almost as bad as he is so that equalizes them a little and makes him not look as bad

plus he is attractive and charismatic, not like the creepy pedo image that most people have of someone creepy and gross-looking with no social skills

Eh. He had social skills, but everything about him from the start just seemed "not right".
The most unnerving parts IMO were the online chat at the beginning, and the ways he flirted with her at the coffee shop. Hayley's innocent, stuttering, slightly nerdy 14 year old girl act coupled with Jeff's slightly seedy, but "cool, sophisticated mature photographer" persona were believable in a very creepy way.

Shit I still need to watch that

I would also see funny games if you guys enjoyed those two movies. There is a hungarian(?) version, but I only saw the English one. Apparently the director(who made both movies) made the English one scene by scene exactly like the first one so I don't think it matters which one you choose.
Same type of thought provoking characters.

I haven't seen the movie, but I've read the book (rereading it now actually)

Kevin def hated his mom in the book, iirc

But I guess it's all up to interpretation

The original from 1997 is an austrian movie.

I watched the original and loved it. It was pretty much a comedy up until a certain point. There's one really, really long grieving scene that seemed hyper realistic to me.
Plus, I love that fucking song that starts when the credits begin; it pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the movie.

People actually defended the pedo?? Even if he didnt kill the girl, there was still the fact that he had child pornography
