Thank you for making this nona. I've been getting rage lately seeing all the surrogacy propaganda on my Facebook feed. All the women in the comments talking about how surrogacy is "such a gift" literally reminds of how Aunt Lydia would talk in the brainwashing sessions to the handmaids in A Handmaid's Tale. I'm looking forward to contributing to this thread.

So as I said before, I started thinking about the issue of surrogacy after listening to a few episodes of Julie Bindel's podcast discussing it, and I'm genuinely convinced that it's perhaps one of the most misogynistic institution ever. It requires the mass exploitation of many poor women around the world for aspects that only women have. In the 2010s, it was already horrific, young, poor women from Ukraine had their eggs harvested, resulting in a few deaths and many suffering from long-term health complications, then extremely poor women from India and Thailand would serve as the 'carriers' of the babies, they would give birth to their babies and have skin-to-skin contact for a few days, only to have the babies taken away, causing emotional damage that they still live with. (Thankfully, these institutions were eventually banned after enough campaigning by activists and public cases of pedophiles buying babies), the process continued in nations like Cambodia, where poor women with children would have to sell their breast milk to be sold to these couples. It's horrific, and one would think that with major industries dying out or being banned, would end the surrogacy industry but it's only grown further and spread to other nations.

I came across this really sketchy chinese surrogacy page on twitter. I also noticed that it exclusively uses European-appearing models in their cover shoots.
