New Age Spirituality does something very similar. In New Age circles they say that you exist in multiple different planes at once and that the higher version of yourself chooses all your life and trauma and even the good things, usually in service of learning spiritual lessons about love and light and all that. Coming from someone who actually believes in the spiritual, hell no. Don’t even seek out pagan/witchcraft circles, they are just as elitist and misogynistic as ever. I’m agnostic but I don’t get where much of the comfort from spirituality is. Like if you believe in Heaven do you not get disoriented by the fact that you will be there literally forever? If you believe in ghosts do the ghosts just float around space after the world ends and then float around the void after the universe dies? If you believe in reincarnation aren’t you scared by the idea of infinite future lives? Like you could go through a Graham’s Number worth of hellish lifetimes and it wouldn’t be anywhere close to ending, plus through all the infinite universes and infinite time you would reincarnate into eventually nothing in this lifetime would matter anymore?
