Thoughts on these posts?

>I kind of miss drama threads on /cgl/. Don't get me wrong, I know the farm exists but I'd rather discuss actual drama then having to sit through 500 replies of people going 'lol get a nosejob" and how 'ugly' everyone is. I guess that's just because I never really cared about discussing someone's looks? So the farm is kinda boring to me most of the time.

>The farm is a cringefest most of the girls there are so insecure they need to shred every cow's physical appearance to pieces "lol she's so ugly and fat and her nose is so big and her eyebrows are terrible geez she's sooo haggard and old looking" also lots of ana chans calling everyone a fatty. It's painful and not fun anymore. I miss the drama here because it was simpler,

>Oh this so much, I'm average close to underweight but I usually don't care what strangers on the net think about my body type.
>But somehow these girls manage to get under my skin and make me hate myself, when it's not even about ME or anyone with similar body shape or weight. I cringe every time someone mentions the farm nowadays because of these people's unhealthy obsession with how other people look

>This. I lurked the farm a lot for a few months and I gotta say the posters are more cringeworthy than most of the cows. If you read the OT threads about mental health and feels, it's more than apparent that a lot of the people on there are batshit insane themselves and very miserable. I realized I was among that group and have been trying to improve my life and personality, it's really distressing to realize you fit all the stereotypes of a typical farmer. I just seriously hope more of them do before it's too late for me.

Certainly some valid points there.

>almost all of these posts effectively come down to the recent infestation of ana-chans bringing the overall quality of the board down and making it an inhospitable environment for regular users
>Admin still won't crack down on them

I agree this place has become unpleasant to browse in general on account of a minority amount of users. Seems like you can't make a comment or post an image outside of /pt/ unless it fits outside of a specific mould without suffering the wrath of the skeletal lords as they repeatedly screech "lol u think that's normal? go on a diet fatty", "u must be American lol" etc.

No. 1958

I think the ana-chans and the people who find no other milk than nitpicking on someone's appearance are what ruin the board. But I wouldn't go saying that lolcow is a wasteland of shit, I think the overall quality is good but there's a small minority of clearly underage or just idiotic girls who try to force milk by stupid claims.

No. 1959

Yeah, I agree with them.

Didn't have this problem over a year ago with the community for the most part. Posts like "lol ugly","omg her nose", "bitch looks nasty", "this is disgusting" or whatever regurgitated one-liners in threads say a lot about the shift in the community. Also comes off as very newfag with that style of posting, but most of that cancer is in /snow/. Go figure.

Basically the Berry, Ahripop, Micky, Megan, Taylor threads.

Anyway, Hellweek has done good. I can already see post quality steadily improving.

Several of them have been banned during hellweek.

I don't know what, if anything, should be done about petty/superficial comments.

No. 1997

/cow/boy here.
Stop by occasionally to lurk as do a few others. None of us bother to post as the consensus over there is that this place is full of bitches calling people fat/ugly.
Not that our board is any better. Especially since all the gamergate crap started.

No. 1998

Yeah as a lurker of both cow and here I have to say they both have a special breed of autism infestation.

Though to be fair, I think some superficial commentary is fine. It's just when it's in petty excess that it becomes like this.

For example, I can see why a cow like himezawa gets comments about her nose - it's a very prominent feature. It's like looking at chin chan and expecting people not to comment on her chin (or lack there of).

However, it's somewhat difficult to draw the line between 'warranted' remarks and 'unwarranted' since it is largely opinion based. I think something like countless posts arguing over whether Dakota is fat or not is unwarranted, but a mention within discussion that she's skinny fat by model standards seems on topic. That's still not an easy distinction to make for every situation, though.

Gotta be honest, though, screw the Anon diary writing about how reading comments about other people triggers their body sensitivity. 4chan's cgl has really become tumblr in a lot of respects.

I do think moot was somewhat right in saying that to uphold culture you need someone to dictate rules. I don't think he 'did it right', but we all know that's a whole other story. I appreciate Admin taking our opinions into consideration, but I'd not be against him deciding what he personally felt was the 'right direction' for this site and 'laying down the law' - so to speak.

May have started rambling in this post. Still waking up. Hope I expressed my point of view clearly.

That was sort of the idea behind hellweek. But getting into moderating even on-topic discussion, like whether a comment about someone's looks is warranted or deserved, is approaching nazi-level moderation. At the moment, we only enforce that for completely unwarranted weight comments, because those derail threads fast. (Like calling someone fat or obese when they're clearly thin.)

No. 2005

I feel like a large part of the new users aren't interested in actual milk and dumb antics.

They only pick at someone's looks and reiterate for the hundredth time how ugly or fat this and that girl is. This doesn't only happen on /snow/ but also on /pt/. Take a look at the Himezawa thread for example. Half of the posts on her threads talk about her nose. Lolcow wasn't like this when it started out.

I agree with everyone else here but I'm not sure what Admin/we intend to do about it.

I don't know how true that is.

For example, look at this thread from July 2014, over a year ago:

>>>/pt/3229

A large portion of the comments are about her looks. If you check the catalog and look for old threads, you can see the same pattern.

It does feel like it's gotten worse lately, but it's pretty much always been that way.

No. 2011

/snow/ is such an awful board.
All it does is pick apart the Instagram accounts of mentally ill girls, and rags on their bodies/faces/every single thing that they do. It's not even funny– it's just constant nitpicking.

I'm never been posted on /snow/ or anything if you were going to ask, but I feel like a lot of the shittiness and general cattiness come from that board in particular (and, to an extent, /g/.)

It's just hard to find anything posted there that's actually amusing. It's all just berating people, not milk.

I don't know. Maybe I'm biased because of the lack of milk coming from normal cows right now on /pt/. But I feel like most of the comments in the OP pertain to some boards more than others.

No. 2021

Kind of an opposing opinion, I think anachans and other nitpickers are kind of a necessary evil imo to ensure this place doesn't turn into too much of a hugbox. I get they can be shitposty but if that can't be posted here then it starts a kind of slippery slope between what can be talked about and what can't. Since the lolcow antics discussion is here, might as well include other stuff. Cows aren't always making milk, but the community and the topics are all already here so we might as well talk about something. For the sensitive anons from /cgl/ best thing to do is just…not browse this board, I guess.

No. 2027

Yeah, drama threads on /cgl/ were way more entertaining.

/snow/ is cancer honestly, if a cow doesn't produce enough milk for /pt/ then the thread will get shitted up by stupid petty comments because there's nothing to talk about. That said it could be okay if all the ana-chans left, ideally to their own imageboard and not a containment board on lolcow.

No. 2028

>>2021
That's the thing. If you crack down on the nitpicking it becomes PULL. If you let it get out of hand, it's lolcow on a bad day. We just need to find some sort of medium.

No. 2029

In reply to Admin in order of those posts…

#1: I feel it's irrelevant to talk about a lolcows looks more than the actual milk they produce. I come here for the trainwrecks and the actual shitty deeds that lolcows tend to do and which made them lolcows to begin with.

If I wanted to talk about how someone looks, I'd just give up and pick up a copy of "Us Weekly" instead.

#2: There are are a lot of susceptible and vulnerable ED sufferers on the board and I don't like how the ana-chans try to weasel themselves in to give advice to make them feel bad about themselves and even give advice on how many calories they "should be eating".

At the same time, no one should be personally talking about themselves anyway, there's no "safe space" here and I think the ana-chans should be scolded in the same way.

#3: See above, same things.

#4: I very rarely go into the OT boards, so I don't have an opinion of that, apologies.

No. 2030

I think the /cgl/ drama nostalgia is rose-tinted at best. It's easy to forget the day-to-day nitpicking that happened there and just remember the prime drama because /cgl/ drama spanned years. IMO both /pt/ and old /cgl/ threads operate exactly the same.

I mean hell, Kipi threads were nothing but nitpicking her face, and both /pt/ and /cgl/ have made a pastime of photoshopping cows prettier when there isn't much milk currently. I do think the ana-chans and most of /snow/ are egregious, but if I had to pick between old /cgl/ and /pt/, I'd pick /pt/.

Seconding this.

Also what's with the influx of tumblr tier moralfags lately?

Fucking tired of this "oh no everyone's being big bad meanies!" shiet.

No. 2035

I'm about 95% convinced that all the people complaining about nitpicking and appearance comments are newfags who weren't even around for 'old cgl', 'old lolcow', etc.

No. 2040

That is ultimately why they were banned in the first place. It caused lots of arguments and that seems to be what's happening here. People start to say stupid irrelevant nitpicking and then it starts an argument.

I think this is something that will end up regulating itself sooner or later. Enough people call out anachans and tell them to shut up in threads, I don't think admin intervention is necessary as well.

I got directed here from 4channel.
Never touched /cgl/ when I visited yotsuba.
