This happened yesterday
>Trek Industries’ open-world sci-fi shooter Orion has been pulled from Steam, thanks to a DMCA takedown request, according to the game’s developer. The game allegedly uses certain assets from Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
>David Prassel of Trek Industries posted an update to one of the studio’s other games on Steam, Orion: Prelude, saying Orion (aka The Orion Project) was pulled from sale after a copyright claim.
>Prassel cites a portion of the takedown request in his post, which says the notice was issued "on behalf of Activision, who alleges that the game Orion uses weapon art content from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The weapon art in question includes the M8A7 rifle, the Haymaker rifle, and the Bal-27 rifle."

Ok, I know this isn't a dev, but it's still video game related and hilarious so i'm posting it here
>mattpat, the guy who runs the gametheorist channel on youtube (largely criticised for having ridiculous theories that don't even make sense but the kiddies love it) gets to meet the fucking pope somehow (??)
>decides to give the pope a copy of undertale
>A STEAM KEY. FOR. UNDERTALE.
>somehow he expects for the pope to not only have a computer, but also a fucking steam account
>he says that this video game is revolutionary because it makes people want to solve the game peacefully instead of violently and that since it's release people have been using the words pacifist and pacifism more
>compared people being discriminated against for being gamers to homophobia/racism
>somehow also manages to sneak an autistic rant about fnaf in there
>he also put fucking googly eyes on the pope on the thumbnail image of the video he made about it

>>5298>>5299>>5297>>5300Oh I definitely believe that he did it to make himself look totes ebin XD to everyone else, he had no actual interest in promoting the message of undertale or whatever bullshit he said. Now he acts like he's the savior of video games because he confused an old man with a fucking steam serial code.
Also, apparently he was supposed to bring a gift representing his home country, but he said nah fuck that and decided himself to "represent the gaming community" and show him undertale. Just. What the fuck.
His theories are also the worst. My 14 year old cousin was in my house the other day and said to me "oh did you know that sans is actually ness from earthbound?! (he never played earthbound by the way)", the theory doesn't even make fucking sense but now people are parroting it like it's fact when they know nothing really on the source material.

What's your opinions on Yandere Dev? There's always some kind of drama going on with him. He's my new favorite lolcow thread topic to lurk on kiwi farms. I don't know enough to post a decent summery, I'm too new to it, but I'll try.
He's the developer of the game Yandere Simulater, a stealth game dedicated to the Yandere anime trope. The game is still in development and revolves around a 17 year old high school girl that kills anyone that gets close to her crush including his little sister. The game became super popular with kids after some YouTubers began playing it in their videos. Yandere Dev channeled his popularity into money by making a patreon and his YouTube channel gets decent views. Instead of hiring a team to complete the game or selling it to a company, he uses volunteers and he supposedly treats them poorly. He buys or "borrows" coding and assets for his game, is known not to take criticism well and gets really angry about kids sending him emails.
Most of his game updates revolve around adding Easter eggs to the game rather then something useful. There's a popular theory that he is not planning on finishing the game and does minimal updates so he can continue milking his patreon income.

>>5299Unpopular opinion but I like MatPat as a person. I don't much care for his videos, I watch them just to kill time. His livestreams are pretty nice though (imo). He and his wife are really nice and I don't know, I just appreciate that in a youtuber I guess. And I mean genuinely nice not that fake overly saturated shit Suzy does.
There livestreams are more interesting because they talk about how they do the research for the shows, along with a lot of other topics (basically anything you want to ask them) while they play videogames.

Yandere Dev threw a fit on 8chan a few days ago. I guess he chose the YouTube and Reddit fans over his original fanbase.
https://archive.is/ggqaTI don't blame him but maybe making a scene on his way out wasn't the best idea… It makes for an entertaining read though.

>>5301Really? I mean, I am not a hardcore Theorist fan but I enjoy the videos for what they are; over the top, reaching "what ifs" that don't have to arrive at a concrete answer, but it's fun to think about. It's like having a temporary tinfoil hat for amusement.
I thought the gift of the game was more of a symbolic gesture gift rather than a literal practical gift. It's not like the pope would need/use any other of the gifts he'd be given. Like "here's a symbolic gift on behalf of the gaming community which can often be painted with a bad brush, with a game that's been making ripples and has lasting cult potential"
or maybe I'm not overthinking it and I'm too chill about it?
No. 5312
>>5311Yeah but it's still pretty funny how he throws a hissy fit whenever someone tries to give him constructive criticism ("muh emails, muh debug sandbox, muh pantsu!") and acts like he's the best dev ever when his 2 year old "game" is a tangled buggy mess of if/else statements that barely reaches 30fps on a good day.
Aren't delusions of grandeur and throwing unnecessary yet amusing tantrums kinda hallmarks of cows?

>>5311The problem is that he can't distinguish criticism from insults. When the main programmer of Skullgirls gave him advice to improve the code of his fighting game, he refused to listen because his feelings were hurt.
http://pastebin.com/mcAGt3w9 No. 5315
>>5310It's not really amusing though when he derives said theories from absolute thin air, and presents them in the most clickbait-y "factual" way ever. That's the real problem people have with his content. I've watched a few where's he's like "I just blew your mind" and if that doesn't scream ego I don't know what else does.
It's nothing got to do with overthinking it. Matpat was asked to bring a present that represented his HOME COUNTRY, and instead he ignored it and brought undertale (????).
It's not symbolic, it's not even accurate, matpat says this is the first time ever people are looking for peaceful resolutions to solving video games and even cited the guy who beat fallout 4 without killing anyone, IMPLIED THIS WAS UNDERTALE'S DOING even though this happened before undertale. He acts like undertale invented peace or some shit.
If we're going to do something like this, why not undertale's biggest inspiration, earthbound? Especially with paula and the hopelessness at the end. There are actually many more examples of way more influential video games than undertale, undertale is a fad right now that will die down (I say this as a fan by the way!), it has not even stood the test of time as yet, it is not really worthy of representing gaming imo. It's a good game but it's not like Mario 64 or OoT which changed gaming forever. It's done… nothing for the gaming world, other than be popular. And again I say this as a fan of undertale.
Even for a symbolic reason, a steam key is the most autistic thing he could have given. A steam key. He could have copied it to a USB or printed a physical copy (would still be stupid to give the pope fucking undertale but I digress, it would at least get your head around the symbolic stuff. A steam key means absolutely fuck all and definitely confused the pope).
>>5311He is definitely a cow. Have you never read his rant at the skullgirls dev? Basically
>he looks up to skullgirls' dev>makes fightan engine solely looking for praise/attention from him>dev tells him his engine is shit>he bawwwwws because he didn't get asspats>writes out this long autistic manifesto saying he viewed them as rivals from there on out and longed to destroy himoh it's actually here
>>5313also well known for doing fuck all on his game while taking the patreon money and putting out stupid updates while making minuscule progress after several years
>>5314oh and this too lel

More crazy dev drama
>huge patreon funded project "Breeding Season" makes like $40,000 a month every month for the last 3 years>it was basically harvest moon if it was a porn game>suddenly it's cancelled>the programmer made a blog post saying that the artist stopped showing up to meetings and responding for the last month or so>eventually finds out the artist made a secret patreon for a game called "Cloud Meadow" which is very similar to breeding season (even hired people to work on the project too) all the while still collecting $9,000 a month from Breeding Season>confronts the artist over Skype, artist says he didn't mean for him to find out like this but yeah he's quitting>the programmer made the mistake of allowing the artist to keep all rights to his art in his contract so the artist tells him he wants all the assets he's made to be removed or he'll sue him (90% of the assets in the game are by him by the way)>the programmer doesn't want to lose 3 years worth of work so he offers to buy the assets from the artist, the artist refuses, tells him he'll sue him if he uses the assets (most likely wants to edit the assets and use them in his own game)>another team member (I think animator) resigns after saying she was basically doing all the work and managing everything while no one else did anything (while getting paid peanuts in comparison) and it was too stressful/she was too overworked to keep going>programmer announces the cancellation of the game because there are too many assets to recreate after 3 years and "accidentally gets his dropbox hacked" so all the assets are leaked to the public>turns out said artist did a similar thing on another project a few years ago>still expecting money on this new project, crazy goals like $15,000 a monthBreeding Season cancellation blog post:

H-bomb is partially responsible too though for letting this guy dick around so long with other people's money, not telling him to get fucked and hiring a project manager, etc etc etc

Whats the deal with Tim Rogers ?
Has his indie game videoball failed yet ?
It's a shame because I liked some of his writing.

>>5326On each site the thread about him is really active. My guess would be so many forum members have thrown around ideas to fix the game that they decided to go for it and make their own. The funny thing is when Kiwi began planning their game they weren't aware PULL had already started working in theirs until a PULL member posted on Kiwi about it.
That's a good point. I wouldn't be surprised if 8chan was working on one too.
