>>5034>>5036(I'm sorry to rant, I'll try to sage but idk if I'm doing it correctly)
In America news stations have been taken to court over lying and won by saying "We're really entertainment, we can falsify the news," and those same stations run to this day advertising themselves as "News". America wouldn't charge people for intentionally misleading the masses; our entire media and government runs on falsification. Politics would crumble, people in power would have to call out themselves to enforce regulations which they would never do. Having ignorant, malleable citizens that you can make think, feel and act however you want is too beneficial for the top 1% (the people who fund lobbyists and guide politics in their favor) would never let a law like that pass. The rich (our rulers basically) have no reason to make spewing bullshit illegal, it's mostly what gives them their edge above the rest/power. It would hurt them more than benefit them so it won't happen. Maybe Europe still has a chance.
Also let's be real who actually eats up what some youtuber says? Only hill billy ass "my towns population is 12, fox news is the only news station that plays in my state" people. Dumb nobodies.
I do like the 'freedom of speech' aspect of being able to spew bs though, that the internet is still mostly a free for all where you can do or say whatever. Yeah you get extremists like this lady but you also get some well-spoken intelligent speakers that go against the grain who maybe wouldn't have been able to share their opinion if the internet was more heavily regulated. Americans just need to learn to question everything and fact check/look to international news for world updates, not be so damn gullible.
