wind isn't so regular in timing, i think it should be held a bit longer at its extended state. Like wind will blow one direction for a moment then quickly change and blow another so the only really quick parts should be the moment the wind changes. i think. not an animator tho

Good on you for protecting yourself Nona. Even if I'm a retard that can't figure out anything beyond a direct link. I'm a newbie but I wanna try my hand at animation. I'm curious about everyone's inspirations for animation. Mine feel a bit like a weird mix but mine is Satoshi Kon and Don Bluth. I really like how Bluth balances darker grittier backdrops with whimsical characters (which is especially refreshing when I look at how candy colored a lot of animated movies that came out this year) and I'm reading his books on storyboarding and animation, likewise I like how Kon balances a really dark societal backdrop with reality bending and the different paths it takes from more lighthearted to more horrifying all wrapped up in these fluid sequences.

the link is encoded just google nona youll find out how to use itFINALLY i get to sperg about my favorite animators and animation styles, first of all i really like the approach to animation their rotoscopic animation doesnt look too realistic like you see in new anime (the jjk shit looks so fucking ugly and fake if i want to see realistic anime ill just watch a fucking movie), although that approach takes time i really love how reminiscent it is of older disney if you pay attention closely you can sometimes see little details you might miss sometimes i personally love the work of jocelyn charles alot, as for the japnese animators i personally love i love Yoshiaki Kawajiri realistic and bold gritty animation and otsuka yasou's limited nuamericana animation i also love satoshis work aswell,i really miss the weight you used to see in older anime nowadays everything looks so flimsy and shitty (plus the color palates reek )imo theres no distinct character animators nor unique ways of tackling anime unless you go looking for indie(i think the french have the nips beat in that regard) as for the americans definitely don bluth and james baxter (that man isnt human im sure) i also love a iranina niche animator kek reza riahi and Farkhondeh Torabi puppet work

I love Richard Williams, I was really bummed that he passed away before I had a chance to attend one of his talks. Obviously he was a bit of a coomer moid, but I really love the psychedelic, fish-eye-lens stuff he does. It's incredible that Who Framed Roger Rabbit was animated at 24fps without in-betweens– it's all keyframes. I imagine this was done in part to make the animation gel better with the live-action footage, but it may also be a component of Williams' style.

No. 438446

Is Clip Studio EX pirateable or going on sale again before the end of the year? I made an animation for a class recently but Pro only lets you do up to 24 frames, so it was super short.

No. 438670

A good video on some famous female animators. Also I think to keep the thread from being punted into oblivion some creative tasks should be regular here to keep fellow animenonas animating, gartic phones animation level can be fun to participate and I'm thinking we could have weekly or monthly assigned themes too like how old /ic/ animation boards used to have or even the 42 hour animation short film or even a year end lc exclusive animation short flim to reflect back on your progress, what do you think? If any nonas have any other suggestions do reply!

I don't want this thread to die. Anyways, I hate the direction FlipaClip has gone too. Just like everything else so many features are either paywalled or require ads to use, that and the UI is so ugly now.

I remember when it was still fairly new and didn't have that much to pay other than adding layers. Is there any good mobile alternatives to it?

It is a shame how quickly flipaclip sold out I used to animate on it all the time, some alternative can be dreams (if you're an iOS user) or fire alpaca and ibis draw both have flipbook animation but I've seen people animate great things on it if youre going heavy duty clip studio is best

this vidrel is the perfect example of why i fucking hate current nuanime animation and animators i dont know WHY current animators are deadset on animating over animated shit with random speedlines and overt impact shots that make no goddamn sense and floaty rotoscoped shit with fucked up face models animated on 1s like this fucking scene which feels like one of those newgrounds hyundojo shitty fighting videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3gfvLqUXTs, you can see the literal difference between the real life reference footage (which has dynamic angels and composition suited to a action movie) and the animated one which is just traced shit (with no dyanamic shots nor any held keyframe to truly "feel" the action why the fuck would a watch a anime when i can just watch a movie instead)but with all the weight and impact gone because again THIS IS ANIMATION youre supposed to "imitate" real life not literally trace it a real life punch consists of 30fps but in 2d animation the action seems devoid of any weight unless you add some to it (squash or overshoot) the best example of this which uses both rotoscoped and animation principals is this scene in spriggan https://youtu.be/931Cn6ynA3g?si=gunzQLcpUnqiLH6y you can tell this chase scene is rotoscoped but the animators have done a great job at hiding it and using animation principals when necessary (like the car crashing into the apples notice how the action is on the thugs and not the mc unlike how nuanime prioritizes showing the mc at all times at the determent of animation and composition and the GODDAMN SCENE you feel more like youre playing a bystander than actually experiencing the scene) so many new animators overdo it with the "sakuga" (which is a cheap way of saying i only can do shitty shounenslop) this single short triggered my autism so i had to let it out here and dont get me started of the animators artcows in the sakuga scene i want each one of those moids thrown into a ravine
