Rkgk is an abbreviation for rakugaki (落書き/くがき) which translates to scribble or graffiti in Japanese.

The term was primarily popularised online by Japanese artists on Twitter to label their quick or unfinished sketches.

However, this practice has often been satirised by describing fully rendered artwork as 'rkgk'. This is because some artists will post high-quality finished paintings and label them as 'scribbles'.

Despite this, you may NOT post fully rendered artwork here. This thread is for appreciating rkgk in its original sense: simple yet complex linework and sketches with minimal colour but a strong sense of form, weight and tone.

rkgk always inspired me to draw, its the epitome of having fun while drawing. God i wish i could be this good at feeling the form and making simple sketches

Thanks anon, I'm hoping to draw in more like-minded people! I've long since given up on rendering; it feels like an absolute slog to get through compared to quick, loose, fun sketching. Plus, just look how much energy is bursting from artwork like that of Kim Jung Gi (picrel), using just a brush pen and the imagination. Truly the superior and most difficult to master art skill, imo.

I like he sketches from this artist. I think she's usually drawing her characters from the original manga she makes, they're cute and she's good at drawing.

to be honest I both like and dislike her style (not a fan of the faces), but damn if I don't admire the fluidity and dynamism in her drawings. I saw a couple of videos of her sketching in real time and she does it so quickly and effortlessly too.
