Called the 12 layer robes but it could be anywhere from 10 to 40 or more layers of silk, depending on your social rank.

I want to start researching Zahra Khanom Tadj es-Saltaneh and the beauty standards of Persia at the Qajar dynasty, particularly because my family used to come from there, and I hated my body hair as a teen, particularly my unibrow. I guess it was just something that was considered beautiful a few centuries before. Maybe reading about women with mustaches and men without beards will help?

There are sooo many traditional Algerian outfits. They differ vastly from region to region, though most have one thing in common: they're really intricate and colorful. Nowadays they're mostly worn during weddings or special occasions, but there are still older people and village inhabitants/nomads who wear them every day.
This one is dear to me cause it's from where my family comes from, the Kabylie region. The traditional designs are a bit simpler (they're also the ones worn casually), but you can find gorgeous modernized versions nowadays. The more intricate ones are usually for weddings. My grandma and great aunts still wear this kind of dress in their daily life
