I like those places where old people are still hanging out with each other. Not a Slav so I only know it from Italy where my mother comes from. When I was out when it was already dark in some of its small towns you had tons of old men sitting there and playing cards and such and old women being elsewhere and talking.
In my country you only see some of the wealthy old ones at night when they come back from the opera or something. Everbody else is always at home watching TV all day and talking to no one. Not comfy.

In the past, I'd always see them sitting on the benches when I returned home from school, now I don't see them anywhere. I feel like this tradition might be dying out: people used to live their whole lives at the same places and knew each other from the very youth, those babushkas got too old to go out and some of them died, and younger people don't have the same bond with their neighbors or a habit to exchange news and gossip with them so I don't expect newer generations of grandmas to hang out near the houses.
But there's a certain area in my city where elderly people gather to dance with each other, and they still go there afaik, plus yeah, some places where old men play chess, checkers, or dominoes. I also once traveled by train to Carpathians, and there was a company of old ladies that planned to spend summer together, they were very lively and enthusiastic, very excited to talk to a German girl, which could speak either Russian or Ukrainian, that was on the same train. Sadly, didn't hang out with them but, also sadly, my spirit wouldn't match theirs, they seemed younger and happier than me at that moment. That's very uplifting though when you see elderly people like that because many of them are self-neglectful and get very bad as they get older so they don't really travel or do anything interesting (for them, not for me to watch haha).
