site went down, then came back up. /ot/ and /m/ couldn't be posted in and there were /m/ and /ot/ containment threads in /g/. after 8 days, /ot/ was up and running, however /m/ has been "down" (no threads) for over 20 days at this point. admin has not commented on it except when /ot/ was finally up and running. they're "working on it".

Kinda really irritated that admin refuses to communicate with us. I get not fixing it for a while for xyz reasons but TELL US.

I hate when anons have no technical background good grief. Speaking as a tech anon, it's not as simple as "not having the knowledge". Sometimes the shit is just gone, vamoose. Yes admin should probably just admit that, but don't come for a tech person's know how when the problem isn't likely "Can I fix it?" the problem is "Oh welp. It's gone. Nona I without doubt trust what you say about women in the tech field, but come on, admin has called this upon herself by not communicating or fixing anything for a literal month. That's what caused anon's questioning of her tech knowledge, not the fact she's a woman.

I'm testing something out right here /m/109651 , if this hyperlinks then it can definitely be fixed, if it doesn't I'm not quite sure, but that would mean completely erasing what is currently on /m/, I think. Like, think of it like a "snapshot" of /m/, that has to be compiled – which can take a long time, especially since /m/ was literally comprised of large media files. I mean, the years that /m/ has been around, just think of the SIZE of all of the files combined.

Given the fact that there were:
> at LEAST 444 threads on /m/ in December of 2021
> 103 of those being full threads (1100-1200 replies per thread)
> assuming that at least 300 of those threads had AT MINIMUM 100 pictures – it's way WAY more, I mean even looking at an old K-poop thread, there were 850+ pictures, and there were some threads with 1200 pictures… thus the mean would be roughly 600 photos.

That's a really rough calculation of a total of 1.4 Terabytes of data that needs to be compiled into a "snapshot", or moved over to another server or whatever is being done. 1.4 TB of data is hefty as hell. So if admin is running this on cloudflare, it's going to be expensive and take a long time. 2 weeks? I'm not sure how cloudflare works or if they charge for data transfer tiers or "snapshot" recovery. As I said above, I also think she's probably super busy.
To be honest, it's not difficult to put myself in admin's shoes since I used to be the tech admin for a discord server and I basically created my own bot, but that bot would mess up often and even if I knew it I would avoid it because it was stressful doing that and having a real job too. Just tried not to think about it while being busy with my own personal life, even if users relied on me for something. Yes it's shitty, but it happens. You just get overwhelmed sometimes. I'm not trying to excuse the behavior, but I understand it and just try to think of it like, from that perspective.
