This is one of my all-time faves, anon. idk what the film's rights issues are but I purchased a DVD with janky subtitles including an ad for a free to try translator in mid-dialogue, and the scratchiest print imaginable. This wasn't even a bootleg.

From The Lover. I have a love-hate relationship with this movie, I feel like the film adaptation is a very scrote gazey, superficial interpretation of the book but visually it is very pretty look at. Apparently the author of the novel, Marguerite Duras burned the manuscript of the novel after she watched it. I wish a female director would pick it up and make a proper version
