No. 13110

The Moomins (Swedish: Mumin) are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish by Schildts in Finland. They are a family of white, round fairy tale characters with large snouts that make them resemble hippopotamuses. The family lives in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past, their temporary residences have included a lighthouse and a theatre. They have had many adventures along with their various friends.

there’s been a pretty big moomin resurgence thanks to twitter and the new animated show (Moominvalley) but a lot of people grew up with these guys too. show off cute moomin stuff, post relatable comics, tell me how snuffkin was your first crush or let’s talk about the old/new episodes.

My grandfather played Snufkin in the first ever Moomin stage play back in 1949 when he was still a drama student. I wasn't sure if I should post the pic or not but it's on Wikipedia and stuff, so… He's the one just behind Tove (obviously)

I don't like the art style in that new series, but this movie from 2014 year looked just amazing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomins_on_the_Riviera

Too bad that they don't used similar art style on the new show, because that 3D-generated stuff feels most of the time quite cheap and generic.

Well, is because it's cheap and generic. I hate it, is so ugly. Why couldn't they model the chars in a more similar fashion to the 2014 movie? Or at least the 90's anime.

Anyway pic related is best Moomins to me.

if you haven’t watched it yet I’d give it a chance, I don’t like awful 3d but somehow with this they were able to keep a lot of the charm. furry, knit, fuzzy, textures that remind you of the “fuzzy felt” moomins and a mix of 2d background elements pop in with the 3d giving it the homey feel of the animated version and comics. I also really like the lighting of the series in the first two episodes, they really captured the warmth of spring.
