What's everyone's thoughts on the drawabox lessons? I've been on and off on them myself. However I think it's a good way to brush up and start off on fundementals with how everything is structured.

Friendly reminder to us weebs that you have to know the rules to break them, make this your mantra or you'll get hit face-first with a bag of bricks when you poke your head out of the train window
>>119195>what resources or lessons did you start off with when you were first drawing?How-to-draw manga books but they were exceedingly terrible looking back
>what resources do you often use now?https://quickposes.com/en/gestures/timedFor good gesture drawing training. Mangamaterials, hanari0716 and EtheringtonBros on twitter are all good too. /ic/ is okay sometimes
>what subject do you often gravitate towards when looking for art help?Rendering and anatomy are king in my opinion, so I'm always observing how my favorite artists render and draw the body. You can learn from everyone and everything so long as there is technical skill to be learned. When you see nice scenery, a pretty object or nice artwork, try to imagine yourself drawing it, making every stroke in your mind. It's a nice mental exercise.
>How long have you been using these resources and how much has it contribute to your growth?I have tutorials from god knows when back in early deviantart, I think they have certainly helped me to get inspired.
>What resource or art help guide was waste of time?I don't use the app at all but almost every single instagram tutorial I've seen was worthless to me. Just my personal experience though.

Devin Korwin is great, I like that he doesn't teach HIS style like most social media artists but instead teaches how to think like a painter. He's more about the process of rendering rather than the final result. No spoonfeeding "how to get x lighting" or "how to color x material", and I also like how he doesn't join dumb hashtags and art trends, and doesn't take paragraphs to give advice. Only con probably is that you would have to be slightly advanced for any of his advice to be of use
>>119225I've been on and off too and every time I get back I lose all my progress because Im an undisciplined bitch.

Are you animefag? Do you love looking at books more than actually gittin gud?
https://hunmer.github.io/List-of-drawing-tutorials/Massive library of scans for tutorial/reference books. Mostly japanese, some are translated. Lots of redundant weeb shit but if you've been looking for a particular ref book on amazon.co.jp, they probably have it.

>>139920You mean this? As picrel suggest, the goal is a continuous line, and it's far better practice to put multiple lines on top of one another than to try to attempt to get the shape you need in these tiny, messy strokes. When someone does that is a clear giveaway they're very inexperienced and have no confidence.
