So in light of all the 22 year olds feeling ancient lately, I thought we could benefit from a thread of stylish old babes to aspire to.

Post golden girls whose looks you admire, are attracted to, or hope to emulate if you make it that far.

I don't care if they're wrinkly and natural or have had some work done as long as they're goals to you.

Even if you don't think they look all that pretty, if seeing them makes you feel a little less like leaving behind a beautiful corpse, post 'em.

OP here. I can understand that someone with awesome genetics and plastic surgery combined might not seem like the most helpful inspo, but part of the reason I made this thread was because of the severity of age nitpicking here. If 20 year old cows can be sincerely and unironically accused of looking haggard and old for having the slightest hint of an eyebag, and girls in vent threads can feel literally old (not just kinda off-trend) for not being teens, then I think having some blessed and PS'd oldspo is fine, as long as it's oldspo. Baby steps and all that.

Also, while I agree that her petite feminine features help, I really disagree that with brown hair she would look 40. You're good! Not ageist. Sorry I got a little defensive. I think your points were valid I just didn't want this thread to turn into pointing out PS/genetics, because a lot of the young cows that get scrutinized even have PS and youthful features themselves sometimes! So I figure, if what people are terrified is any hint of aging at all or even just the years going by, then any older woman that people feel positive about would be helpful here, even if she's not a typical example.

Anon, French women age like everyone else, if not worse. Their faces can be extremely haggard unless they're rich and can afford laser treatments and stuff. They get really spotty and wrinkly because they spend all day in the sun and tan a lot every summer. They do however wear very basic clothing and hair from cradle to grave and eat very very healthy, so that's where much of the illusion comes from since I've seen plenty of women dressing the same in their 20s and 40s.

I'm referring to the internet hype, "French women timeless beauty", Japanese women looking a good ten years younger, etc

Arguably not getting fat, dressing well and protecting your skin is taking care of your body. American women tend to look for targeted solutions rather than overall improvement.

Pretty much anyone can age better if they maintain a decent diet, weight and sun protection their whole life.

Totally. You have a good point. We can admire how they look but the way some people act like all you need to do is exercise a little and stay out of the sun and you'll be stunning is very flippant. Many people who do everything right still end up aging poorly. I think that people, especially (almost exclusively, outside of nitpicky places like lolwcow) men, do actively try to find fault in people for their looks. Which is why huge numbers of uninformed men complain about women's skin aging worse than men because they wear makeup, because if women are to blame for their bad skin, men can justify being cruel about them. Of course, women can be blamed for tanning, smoking, etc, but men do those things at higher rates than women and just have more collagen to compensate for it. They blame makeup instead because it's exclusive to women.

From this (https://www.thecut.com/2016/02/broadway-bernadette-peters-diet-fitness-meditation.html) article
>"I have one cup of coffee a day and I have three slices of grapefruit — three little smiles of grapefruit. Sometimes I have a little bit of oatmeal."
>"I eat a lot of sashimi, especially when I’m in a show. My diet is pretty clean. Just protein, vegetables, and salad"
>"I love tomato sauce, but I just try to stay away from it. If I really want that I’ll scramble egg whites and put tomato sauce on it and then put some cheese on it."
>"My poor friend came over and she felt peaked and she said, “Do you have a cracker?” and I said, “Oh, unfortunately, I don’t have any crackers in this house.”

Sometimes I think about wanting to stay young and sexy forever, but at a certain age, if death might be coming for me in a decade, I would say "fuck it" and start eating the food I like.

this.
like the girls with perfect glowing skin and claim "o haha I just wash my face with soap and roll out of bed" I can give credit to those who do have perfect skin naturally, but it seems everyone thinks that if you're unattractive it's 100% your fault
I believe it also has to do with being high maintenance being seen as bad, like women are expected to look perfect, have a big round squat butt, tiny waist, wide hips, nice thighs, and big round perky tits and perfect glowing skin but people also glorify the type of girl to sit in bed wearing a hoodie and pajama shorts with messy bun + no makeup, watching tv, eating ice cream and reading 24/7, they expect them to be the same person
"women are expected to be perfect but show no proof of the effort they put in to look that way"

>>66999
this is true, especially pertaining to bodies, they expect natural butts and want them to be big and round, then when a girl has a "flat" butt men try to pin point it on them and tell her to do squats, yet little do they know some girls can do all the squats in the world and still have a small but, same goes with skin, if a girl has acne its cuz she doesn't wash her face and eats bad, if she has a belly pooch its because she doesn't work out, if a girl has saggy tits/small/ weirdly shaped boobs, its because of her not wearing or wearing a bra if that makes sense or not doing arm exercises or some shit men say to blame less than perfect genetics on the girls actions

also just wondering why don't men with shit genetics, acne, shitty bodies ever get shit for it ?

nitpicking but even though your butt might still not be big if you do squats, its pretty hard to build up your butt muscles and still have a flat ass. Doing legit squats should make it rounder over time.

Other than that I agree. There are high standards for both men and women but women are usually treated so much more ruthlessly for not meeting them and people act like they should transform over night. Like even my butt thing is still gonna take months or not years. still gonna be flat in the mean time.

Half the appeal is aging is getting to eat what you like, since you're usually past the point of being widely considered sexy anyway. I mean, not to the point of endangering your health or being inconsiderate to your partner, but just not having to diet or aim for a perfect body.

Loss of sex appeal is supposed to be a tragedy for women as they age, and sometimes it feels that way, but at the same time it seems like it could be really freeing to not need to care.

I do get a bit tired now and then with some of the passing comments my partner makes… or requesting I 'wear less around the house' for him, or clean the car in a bikini. It's all said in jest, but I hate feeling like my being a woman is some sort of perpetual sexual performance. It's nice that he's so attracted to me, but I don't make the same requests of him.

I hate feeling like there's this nagging voice in the back of my head that I need to be attractive and make myself attractive when I could spend that energy doing something more enjoyable for myself. Sorry, I digress.

I look forward to getting older and just doing what I want without the societal expectations - that will be nice for sure.

There's a great documentary about older women and fashion called Advanced Style. There's another called Iris about Iris Apfel, who's still killing it despite being 95. Both are fantastic oldspo.

I'm nearly 30.

Many of my peers are looking pretty rough. I've noticed that the worst ones did the following:

- partied hard in their early 20's
- completely stopped caring for themselves by eating crap and sitting on their ass all day
- I remember many of them using baby oil for sunbathing to get tanner when we were teenagers
- smoking
- getting fat. Anecdotally, you can afford to get chubby in your early 20's as long as you can lose it by your mid twenties. After that, I've noticed that people don't bounce back as well.

The biggest thing though? Genes. People whose parents looked great when we were younger tend to follow suit.

Daphne Guinness. Although she's only 49 now, she has always looked older to me for some reason?

From her wikipedia: "The Honourable Daphne Diana Joan Susanna Guinness is a British and Irish fashion designer, art collector, model, musician, film producer and actor. She is an heir by direct descent of the 18th century Irish brewer Arthur Guinness."

She's always been an inspiration to me.

I'll never understand how people rationalise admiring someone whose main accomplishment is being born rich. (and in Daphne's case; thinking that spending her entire life trying to grab attention in expensive couture is the most fulfilling and productive way use the opportunity.)

I like Amanda, I'm into that kind of over-the-top do whateverthefuck they want kind of people.

But the thing that gets me about Amanda Lepore is that she's just 50 years old, but she never changes her style and ages herself so much with that lipstick and white, curly perm. Vintage styles on older women kinda make them look grandama-ish. I wish she'd change it up a little.

I agree! Haha, I was actually trying to post about her the very second the board was shut down.

When I was a kid I thought she was a crazy old lady, too "old" to pull that shit, dance like that, wear that stuff. Now I'm a little older and I see that she's never done anything all that outrageous, but has always been criticized super harshly because she's pushing age/gender boundaries. Her personal relationships are a bit of a mess, but that's not our business. She does tons of humanitarian work and, yet, all people talk about is how she's too old and should just disappear already. She hasn't aged all that well, but I like how she carries on doing what she wants to do. I hope to be that way when I'm older.

also people acting like her arms/body are soooo fucked looking when she's just fit and low bodyfat with skin that isn't youthful anymore so she doesn't look like a fitness model. kinda sad that people would rather see an older woman fat or frail than fit with low bodyfat

Madonna's always had very muscular legs/body, even back before that look was popular. It is kind of odd looking, considering it isn't that common for women to be very muscular, but she was like that even at a young age. Bitch must work out hard. Only thing, though, is I think she's had ass implants or something and it does look pretty weird.

I wish people would stop pretending sexuality stops when you get old. Older women in lingerie are wonderful. I plan to be just as sexual now in old age, as long as I want it! I joke with the person I'm dating about how we're going to be a disgusting old married couple making out on the bench lol.

I kind of look forward to getting old sometimes even though I'm picky about my appearance. It seems like you can let go of a lot of things weighing you down, you're experienced and established in adulthood, stuff like that. I'm not afraid of getting old.
