How would y'all scent layer to achieve an Arabian Princess kind of smell? I'm part North African and a yearning for the scents of my mother's country hit me like a truck suddenly a few days ago.
I tend to like sweet, floral, and gourmand perfumes, and I don't want to dramatically change to something super heavy and cloying, but I'm thinking more something sweet but with an exotic vibe. Preferably an Arab brand like Al-Rehab or Ajmal, but those are hard to come by here, so Western perfumes are fine if they have notes of oud, rose, desert rose, jasmine, orange blossom, warm spice, saffron, or amber.
For the layering I'm thinking:
> Dove pomegranate body wash or Dove rose oil and peony body wash
> Ouai rose body oil
> Some kind of citrusy body spray
> Either Old Spice wolfthorn (sweet citrus) or Old Spice timber (sandalwood) deodorant
> Possibly burning incense so that the scent in the room lingers to my clothes, but I feel like it might make me smell like a grandma who used to be a new age hippy in the 70s and douses herself in patchouli

For incense I love Papier d'Arménie. The rose and arménie scents were crafted by Francis Kurkdjian. Not grandma-like at all, very luxe smelling. I love his perfume Oud Satin Mood as well. It's a very sweet rose oud. It lasts forever, so the day after you wear it you could layer a different perfume on your skin and still have it lingering in your hair.

You're very lucky! I don't know where I could ever find a sample of ambergris, now I'm curious too. I'm not sure if there's any smell that works like ambergris but essential oils are supposed to match evrybody's skin differently, as opposed to synthetic perfumes, they are also affected by temperature, humidity or other essential oils (if you mix them). Maybe the variety of scents is not the same but I think it's very interesting too.

Update: I bought Oud Mood by Lataffa and I'm obsessed with it. Definitely has the decadent sweet yet exotic vibe I was looking for. The incense, smoky, saffron, and oud notes give Sultana of a palace near an oasis in the desert, but the caramel, rose and vanilla are very much pretty fairy princess vibes. It lasts for hours and was cheap too (€35 for one bottle). Good as a room spray too. Will buy again.

Picrel arrived today and it’s lovely - it’s a dupe of Maison Margiela’s By the Fireplace.
I got it with Venice (dupe of Kilian’s Love Don’t Be Shy) and Tokyo (dupe of Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry), each 100ml bottles for £54 all together. I was the anon who recommended Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan upthread - it’s still my favourite but at over £200 a bottle now I was getting tired of rationing myself with it. These are lovely everyday fragrances and I’m going to try layering them in different combinations too.

Any perfumes that smell unsettling?
I love them. I love to smell like there's something familiar or wrong with me, like I have picrel and it's amazing because it smells like straight up humid cemetery flowers with a hint of nostalgic incense.
I also have Etat Libre D'Orange's Ghost in The Shell, it smells…interesting.
It smells different to everyone due to its molecules, to me it smells like old bratz dolls fresh from the box covered in whipped cream and I found out with immense pleasure that it's off putting to moids, like one time I was in a line with it just applied on my clothes and it (the moid) took a few steps back, same with some costumer in the retail I work in meanwhile to women it smells familiar and comforting, with a fresh hint and they always compliment me. Jackpot!
I love perfumes that smell like something specific, maybe I'm just a perfume autist, but I like when I can smell like something that exists/something familiar but not quite there. I hope I made myself clear because I know it's weird to explain with words.
Anyone here that like these too? What are your picks? Trying to find inspo for my next perfume. I want to smell either unsettling/weird, but not on the nauseous side or something that exists and has a distinct and specific odour.

Have you tried CDG's Incense series? Avignon legit smells like a Catholic mass, though I have to warn you the scent has very little staying powder. I'm sure you're aware that a lot of indie fragrances have edgy themes and are meant to be off-putting or at least unusual, but in my experience they all end up smelling rather tame.
In my opinion, the most off-putting but still wearable fragrances are old-fashioned florals and chypres like Anais Anais or Paloma Picasso. Both of those smell like funeral homes to me because of the extremely strong white florals, with the latter also having a weird, smoky/musk base note that almost fucks up the whole thing.

Does anyone have recs or pointers for finding a good go-to fragrance that will make me seem non-autistic to people? I shower daily and keep my hygeine to a good level but as I don't wear deodorant (benzoyl peroxide the pits) or wear fragrance (don't know where to start with perfumes) I just want something that smells non-autistic and pleasing and will make people (who are around me normally in a university setting throughout the day) not off-put.

Tbh I'm not sure what an autistic fragrance would be, but if you want something that will appeal to a wide range of people just go for something basic with little notes. If I was you I would probably get Kuumba Made Vanilla Bean and layer it with Eos Cashmere Vanilla lotion yeah I know, very common recommendations but that's the point. Chose a lowcost niche fragrance, maybe something from Demeter (AKA The Library of Frangrances)? Their range is wide from classic scents to more weird ones, for example I have "Kitten Fur" and it smells like clean towels and after that I smelled my cat and it indeed smells like a cat rolled in clean lanundry, it's not too sweet but with a earthy hint, just to give an example. Sadly is the most common image. Maybe not modern OF whores but classic whores lived in old apartments and used makeup and their customers brought flowers, like some were luxury whores and escorts. Perfumes are made to evoke a specific mental experience and while it's retarded to say that old lipstick means prostitute, it isn't totally wrong either, the "classic" image of elegant, mid 40-50 prostitute. Some perfumes smell like literal shit and dirt and concrete walls, on the other hand, ELDO's Fat Electrician is made to remember a literal fat working moid, it smells like sweat, plastic (from the cables) and has a sweet note to recall a biscuit that this fat moid brings alone to snack on in between screws and cables and shit. It's not really surprising.

The blue one: indigo mist, is kinda bad. It is a bit too strong and alcohol-y but after a few hours it becomes tolerable. it kinda smells like a mall perfume aisle in a bad way. However, this one got me compliments when out in public so i guess it smells nice to other people.
Cookies and kisses (the brown one) is also nice, though i haven't used too much yet. It might be my second favorite.

Kayali's Lovefest Burning Cherry is a nice alternative to Tom Ford's Lost Cherry, which is something I've been searching for. I would disagree about it being a nice alternative, they really don't smell alike beyond the cherry top note (which is pathetically short-lived in BC), Burning Cherry is super heavy and musky IMO which can be overpowering, any woody notes in Lost Cherry are way more subtle. I was really disappointed by Burning Cherry when I tried it a while back, I've been trying to find a good affordable cherry perfume for ages but that one is just not nearly fruity enough for my taste. On that topic, has anyone tried Alexandria Fragrance's Fructus Virginis?

Late reply but maybe this? From Lanvin I've only tried Éclat d'Arpège and it was quite subtle, so I suppose other fragrances from this house will have a similar strength and, as someone who drinks jasmine green tea, I think the only perfumes that could express that aroma should be gentle as well. Green Tea Party by Elizabeth Arden doesn't smell like jasmine but it's a good example of a delicate or rather short lasting tea smell.

Nayrt, sorry for the dumb question but… where can you buy this? I searched because I also am looking for a soft and subtle jasmine scent but I can't seem to find a store that sells it in the US. Is it a EU only product? The only places selling it popping up are airports, lol

It looks like it's impossible to find outside EU, weird. And it's supposed to be a recently launched line (Sweet Jasmine, Blue Orchid…), why is it so rare then? Sorry, anon. Maybe you should browse Fragantica and play with the "search through notes" section, you can add notes you'd like and also put notes in a "to a void" category. Adding "jasmine", "green tea" and "jasmine tea" I only got this result. But I'd delete the third note and add other stuff more interesting.

I could have sworn it was by Christina Aguilera, but all the ones I see online look different. It was in a horrible gaudy bottle, transparent with pink/black leopard print and had a little pink fuzzball dangling off the top. It was also fairly small, I don't remember if it was a eau de toilet or a perfume.

I dont think so, but that's up to you. I am not knowledgeable of the current formulation but in the past I found that the body wash and gels as well as the lotion were a lot more pleasant and less cloying yhan the fragrances. The fragrances are harsh and always have a very synthetic, chemical smell to them and the people around you will likely hate it. But again I don't know if they've reformulated or improved so it's up to you to test a sample maybe.

I like strawberry pound cake, I wish I'd bought the lotion to make it last longer. As it stands the spray lasts on me for about two or three hours, but I've learned that other people can smell stuff on me for longer than I can.
It's pretty good, nice and sweet, does lean a bit artificial though. It doesn't smell like real strawberries, it leans more cake-y and sugary. Good for layering. There's probably better mists out there if you're looking for something that's straight strawberry.

Figure out what you like basically- do you like smelling sugary or sweet? Do you like floral smells? Do you like something more earthy? Something that smells “clean”? And then go on fragrantica and figure out what popular perfumes smell like that. Then go to an irl store and smell the ones you picked out online. If you go to a higher end store (like Nordstrom if ur in the US), the perfume counter ladies are usually quite knowledgeable and can suggest you similar ones until you find one you want.

Adding on to what >>382003 said you can layer products like body oil and eau de toilette as well once you find a scent profile to make something uniquely you. luckyscent.com is reasonably priced for samples and has some rare or obscure brands.

Find some perfumes with notes you think you'd like and get some samples. Spray them and let them develop during the day, as the scent profile of perfumes change over the hours. Never blind buy a whole bottle, because some scents that sound perfect on paper can smell bad when they react with your body chemistry. Try to pick something that goes well with your body lotion and other scented products. A warm vanilla lotion will smell confusing with a musky perfume, but nice with a gourmand or floral one. And use Fragrantica to look up perfumes by note.

I think cute miniatures could sell really good if there were incentive to make them unique again, as opposed to the long cylindrical ones as you mentioned. I'm not a Moschino fan personally but they're a really good example of novelty miniatures that make a good trinket like experience with packaging. I wish more samples or travel sized were done this way, there really is no reason to own tons of gigantic perfume bottles you will never be able to use up. I think it should be more normalized again to use small sample and travel sizes and only buy what you truly are crazy about again lol. It really isn't an 'experience' anymore when regular sizes cost $300, it's becoming so unattainable unless you're chasing the disposable influencer lifestyle.

It's cool that it's refillable but I have a feeling it's no different from any of the Alien chimeras. I love Mugler but unfortunately app Mugler fragrances tend to be very cloying and geriatric, kind of assaulting on the senses. Even angel can be too synthetic and cologne-like if you aren't careful and don't layer. They have so many limited edition bottles and slight variances, I have a feeling hypersense won't be much of an exception. I haven't tried them all (of course, way too many) but I've found that a few of their aquatics tend to be less headache-inducing. I want to try the flora one but haven't been able to get ahold of a tester. I wish they would re-release their body shimmer parfum powders.

I own a bottle of Alien Goddess, after I tried a sample size that came from a discovery set. I think Alien Goddess is a beautiful scent, not cloying but a perfect joyous blend of coconut and vanilla.
A lot of perfume hype/influencer/tiktok/YouTube/reddit fragrance discussion makes people lose sight of their own internal opinions and likes/dislikes. If it sparks a real joy every time you use a scent, then buy it. Don't buy it just to have a "Chanel" or "Diptyque" in your collection like your collecting a pokemon team. I don't own any Versace or Jo Malone because the scents are very nice but fade super fast, like within 10 minutes. I don't want to reapply every half hour so I don't bother with those houses and save my money for the real good stuff that I connect with.

I bought a sample of Fantomas recently. Certainly unsettling. It begins with an intensely sweet honeydew melon note and it gets smokier on the drydown. There's also a plastickyness to it, maybe like rubber gloves. My friend told me it reminded her of a hospital.

Nasomatto also has a scent called Nudiflorum which I find very beautiful but could never wear in public… extremely leathery, rhubarby, sweaty/animalic, and sweet

Perfume or eau de parfum have a higher concentration of essential oils from the ingredients - it's more persistent. Body sprays have a smaller concentration of oil and you probably need to reapply every two hours (depends, some of them last even more, especially some Victoria's Secret mists I tried).
>What if I only want to buy body sprays? Is it really not womanly enough?
Nah, they are quite a popular choice, plus no one needs to know if you use the body mist version of a perfume (like your picrel). Plus, they are pretty cheap too and can layer some of them if you want to.

Pink Sugar is a stereotypical stripper scent for a reason. Moids love sugary sweet gourmands. Those Victoria’s Secret’s scents are also typically sweet and sugary and the whole idea behind Victoria’s Secret is to appeal to men because it’s marketed as a place where men can buy their partners gifts. So the products appeal to men, including scents. And are also common stripper scents.

On an unrelated schizo note I find the "misogyny" of the fragrance world really weird. The human sense of smell is really weak so it easily devolves into spiritual woo woo. It's more thought based than nose based. "Smell" is too abstract for us.

I do! It's not as unpleasant as some of the reviews describe, I didn't know how I felt about it at first but not I love it. Actually it originally made me a bit nauseous because of how plasticky and smoky it was but I just love it now. It might not be a good choice in super hot weather though just because of how "warm" it is. I sometimes will wear it to my college classes but I apply sparingly because it's strong.

Also if you're looking to save money, I bought an Oil Perfumery dupe of it a while back and it's like 95% similar to the original.

avoid anything that's a fragrance mist or any similarly named like body spray if you want a lasting fragrance. you can also layer vaseline to make it last a bit longer. I'd suggest going on fragrantica and searching for strawberry so you will get a list of different perfumes, if you're looking for that characteristic strawberry shortcake scent you might want some vanilla in it too. I can't really suggest anything in specific because I dont know your budget and location but pink sugar and victoria's secret bombshell are affordable options you can find pretty much everywhere. burberry her is extremely popular and smells very strawberry creamy to me.

Late reply but I came across this sample set on clearance at a store like a week after I saw your post and figured why not try it out? Florence turned out to not work very well with my skin chemistry. There was zero pear unfortunately and the florals smelled powdery on me. Stella on the other hand was a very happy surprise. It has beautiful, elegant white florals without smelling old/powdery on me. I love the citrus in this scent too because it’s strong enough to be consistent, but not to the point of overpowering the other notes. Each note has room to shine through

Nonatellas, I'm sad. I recently went to New Orleans and one of the places I was excited to go to was this old perfume store called Bourbon French Parfum, established in 1843. However, I was disappointed on many fronts, namely that their perfume has a very strong alcohol scent. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a very noticeable alcohol presence indicates a bad quality or old batch, right? Anyway, the second big disappointment is that their Jasmine perfume REEKED. I cannot overexaggerate. I put it on my wrist and was hit with a psychic energy cloy of 30 retirement grandmas. Very sad because jasmine is one of my favorite scents. One day I'll get a jasmine recommendation from these threads when I finish some perfumes I already have. I'm sure recs from here would be great, but UGH. I'm so nervous about getting something I can't smell test beforehand. If I got this one without smelling it in person I would have been devastated.

Anyway, IDK if anyone will go to this store, but if you do temper your expectations. There were two I got as a souvenir for the memories. They're okay, but I think I would have passed them up in a legit department store.

IMO it's overhyped. Because perfumes are different on everyone it's worth getting small samples of a few vanilla perfumes in your price range and comparing them. You can get a surprising amount of wear out of a 1ml sample.
I;d personally stay away from FOTM brands like Kayali. They smell fine but they really under perform for the price, plus the quality control for these brands tends to be dodgy.
Even if you're not looking for a more expensive fragrance it's good to try a range of perfumes. It'll help you find out what notes you like in perfume, plus you can look for dupes which are in your price range and don't have the notes you dislike.

So I basically have close to no sense of smell. The things I can smell are very limited and I can only smell them if I put them right up to my nose. Can you guys describe what it’s like to wear perfume? Do you constantly smell the scent when you are wearing it? Do other people smell it on you from a distance? Or do they only smell it on you if you are hugging them or something like that? Do you often smell perfume scents on other people and recognize what they are? How common is it to smell a perfume or cologne on a person? I genuinely have no idea about this sensory experience and am so curious but will never experience it!

If I can smell my own perfume all day it means I overapplied and I can get a headache from it sometimes. Normally you become nose-blind to your own scent after a while. Also I notice scents fairly often on others, though I'm not enough of a perfume fan to name them beyond the very popular ones.
Depending on its strength and how much you apply, some scents can fill a room while others you only smell if you're close enough to hug. women tend to have more light, pleasant scents while middle-aged men will walk in with a cologne that punches you in the face. It seems like there's cultural preferences behind scent strength too.
Also some of the cheap stuff like bath and bodyworks have a weird synthetic smell, and since they're not very long-lasting girls who wear them will reapply often without realizing they've become a cloud of fake sugary smells kek. certain body spray scents and axe/lynx instantly take me back to middle school locker rooms in the worst way

I remember girls always mentioning the axe locker room smell in 2009 and hating it but I could never smell it myself. >Can you guys describe what it’s like to wear perfume?
I have a lot of perfumes I’ve been collecting over the past decade. I treat them as a sort of accessory to fit whatever vibe I’m feeling in the moment. It’s gotten to the point where I feel like my outfit isn’t complete without it lol

Vibe examples:
>smokey spicy scents when dressing goth to enhance the witchy aesthetic
>light clean florals when I want to feel like I’m on a fresh spring picnic
>woodsy or musk scents when dressing like an obvious lesbian
>exotic fruits when I want to feel fun and summery

But it’s not always a thought process. Sometimes I just grab a scent because I haven’t worn it in awhile and want to keep things rotating

>Do you constantly smell the scent when you are wearing it?

No, for me typically I can smell it on me within the first 15-30 minutes and then I stop noticing it. Then sometimes I’ll catch whiffs of it randomly later in the day. Usually I just spray around my neck, but sometimes I’ll spray it on my wrists instead and then I can smell it whenever I want. I especially do the wrist thing when I’m at home and just want to be able to smell a certain scent for my own sensory enjoyment

>Do other people smell it on you from a distance? Or do they only smell it on you if you are hugging them or something like that?

This varies greatly from perfume to perfume. If you’re curious about a specific one, go on Fragrantica and scroll down until you see “sillage” which describes how far a scent is thrown

>Do you often smell perfume scents on other people and recognize what they are?

I usually don’t recognize what they’re wearing, but there are certain qualities that make me recognize that a scent is from bath & body works or Victoria’s Secret/pink. Idk how to describe it other than teen girl scent. It’s usually a scent that’s overly fruity or sugary smelling and very very in your face because the scents don’t last long and the user over sprays to compensate. They end up smelling like someone who accidentally broke a bottle of perfume and had the whole bottle spill on them

A good rule of thumb is 1 spray for parfum, eau de parfum, and most eau de toilettes. Weaker eau de toilettes you can do 2 sprays. Body mists I would still go with 2 sprays at a time (3 at the absolute max), but just reapply later in the day. It’s better to reapply later, than to walk around all day smelling like a fruit explosion

>How common is it to smell a perfume or cologne on a person?

In my experience, not a lot compared to the number of people I cross paths with daily. I’ll notice anywhere from 1-5, but average is maybe 2

Does anyone know of a perfume that is similar to the smell of Florida water? I’ve been using Florida water as a “perfume”, but I’ve noticed the only smell that lingers after a long time is the smell of the alcohol. I’m a fan of the more citrusy-y notes in Florida water. I’ve been told it also has slight notes of clove, but I wouldn’t want a perfume with too strong of a clove smell, as it’s personally too much for me. So Ariana Grande is releasing 4 new perfumes as a part of a Love Notes collection in the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia. I think this is interesting because the idea is that each country/continent will have their own perfume exclusive to their area. It's very odd to me to release fragrances like this.
>Vanilla Suede for the UK: bergamot, sandalwood, vanilla bean
>Pink Woods for North America: jasmine petals, tonka, cashmere woods
>Angels Kiss for Europe: Rose water gelato, salted amber, dark vanilla
>Pressed Petals for Australia: Italian lemon, jasmine petals, pink(?) amber
Also, the bottle design is quite disappointing considering her fragrances are known for having cute bottles. People are saying she wants to be more mature and I understand if she's trying to move her brand away from being for teenagers, but there are ways to make nice looking and mature bottles. Take Hermes for example. This looks cheap and low budget rather than sophisticated to me. Regardless, I'll try to get a sniff is Pink Woods whenever it comes out.

I'm a complete perfume newbie and the only full bottle I've ever owned was a Jimmy Choo Blossom that my grandma gave me when I was a teen and it just came out. It's too sweet for me now but I like it as it dries down and becomes a lot gentler. Still, I think have a very childish taste: I love fruits (peach, nectarine, strawberries, cherries, berries in general), musky smells, all kinds of gourmands, warm spices, most flowers, and certain christmasy or less "screamy" citruses like orange or mandarins. I'm not sure how I feel about woody or grassy notes - I'm open to trying them out. I really dislike coconut. I like gentle scents, especially if the opening doesn't immediately make me sneeze my lungs out, I get that reaction a lot. I find that many perfumes just… smell perfumey. I have no idea how I can describe that smell. Strong, soapy, powdery, synthetic. I'd prefer to avoid white flowers because I associate them with my mother. Also, baking is my hobby and I love to bake stuff for everyone around me - it'd be fitting if I started going around smelling like a fruit or a cake/pastry. I can afford to spend a lot on a perfume, if it's worth the price.

Throwing my hat in for Cherry Ambition by The 7 Virtues. It's a bit tart compared to most cherry perfumes (which smell like sugary cough syrup imo) but it also smells like a warm baked cherry pie. But definitely try to get a sample instead of blind buying full size

The white flower notes scare me a little, but if it's gentle then it sounds like it could be very pleasant. I'm gonna get a little sample of this.

That sounds gorgeous. If it doesn't smell syrupy or doesn't do anything weird on my skin it might just become a favourite. Definitely gonna get a sample!

nonas what's the opinion on bath and body works? My mom always called it cheap but it feels like every girl I know has the same 4 perfumes from it. I'm not a big perfume person & I'm clueless to it really, but I'd like to have some nice cheap ones, would anyone recommend b&bw or is there something else around the same price range?

It's something nice to have on hand but it does smell a bit cheap unfortunately, if you're set on getting something from them get an actual perfume instead of a body spray.
Perfume is very personal because they smell different depending on your skin chemistry, so a scent that works for everyone else you know might not work for you.
The best thing to do is sample perfumes in person. Don't use the price point to decide if it's good or not, just spray it on yourself and sniff it throughout the day. If you like a perfume that's way out of your price range, you can look online for similar perfumes, or you can buy a decant.

Just do what you want. I buy the body sprays and matching lotions from VS PINK because the packaging is cute and I like the variety in scents. I'm not looking for a signature smell, I just want to cycle through a few scents I know I enjoy without spending a fuckload of money. When I'm more familiar with different scents, then I'll consider buying an actual perfume. I feel like body mists are a good place to start if you're interested in fragrance, but maybe that's just me.

i'm desperately looking for a signature fragrance but i haven't found anything so far. I want something herbal (think mint, eucalyptus, sage),unusual and slightly bitter. Some rosy notes could be acceptable in it as well. I've been eyeing a bunch of zoologist fragrances but they're a bit out of my budget.

You and me both anon. I’ve been trying to find something else that smells like an old church library but everything else either misses key notes, has not-so-great reviews or is even more expensive. I’m seriously considering dropping €30 on a 2ml sample but the more rational side of my brain is stopping me.
Why aren’t old books a more common note in perfume? I thought old book smell is one of those things nearly everyone loves, like the scent of freshly baked bread. Or maybe it’s not as beloved as I thought and I just hang out with pretentious people lmao

I loved the original Alien Thierry Mugler before L'Oréal bought it and fucked up the formula. I used to get so many compliments for that scent, especially men seemed to absolutely love it (one bf even told me he found the scent obsessing because I forgot a cardigan at his place and he kinda just loved the scent on it).
The new one is just so meh, bluh.
Any recommendations of a similar scent to the original? I don't even know how to describe it. I never ever wore any other perfume. I'm so sad it's gone to shit.

Any nonny using Eden by Cacharel here? I find the combination of notes interesting as it's listed but unfortuntely I can't find tester anywhere and I don't want to jump into buying full size bottle yet. Is it worth it? I like the idea of citrus mix and white flower, plus notes I know from Noa (also by Cacharel) and I love. I'm curious if it's as lasting as Noa, which lasts me entire day with one application.
I want something different to rotate with Arden's Green Tea during the summer (and with Noa during spring), as I hated Clinique's Happy but I think it was more due tester being not the freshest, it was a leftover and I heard it easily goes bad. I barely felt citrus. Though moid variant smelled so nice

My favorites from Zoologist are probably Moth and Civet, but Squid is definitely up there.

Are there any universal red flags for people with fragrance sensitivities? I'd like to find myself a signature scent but my husband is super sensitive to perfume. He's always complaining about people who wear too much scent and avoids the scented candle isle of shops like the plague. Hyacinths and red fruit-flavoured teas both give him headaches. He also claims to dislike jasmine as a scent but used to wear Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani which apparently has jasmine in it, so I don't know how serious that aversion is.
Of course I ought to get some samples or try things out in the store but it would be nice to know if there are any scents I shouldn't even bother trying.
I'm kind of dreading going into a perfume store to be honest, I get overwhelmed really easily and will probably end up dropping spaghetti everywhere.

I bought Tuscan Honey and Mango Beach from Camille Beckman. Tuscan Honey to me is a beeswaxy, creamy, sweet scent. The beeswax makes it unusual for me since I'm not used to that in perfumes but I like it! It's like a fresh, powdery sweetness rather than a dessert sweetness.
I was expecting Mango Beach to be a juicy, indulgent fresh mango scent but it's actually more like a light mango candy. I was a little disappointed but it's nice, and I think I'll end up wearing it a lot in the summer since it's not an overbearing sweet fragrance. Definitely recommend if you like perfumes that are more intimate in terms of sillage.

Old post, but for those curious: I own 15 Lattafa bottles, not including samples, and the majority are underwhelming and slightly synthetic, making them unpleasant to me. Badee Al Oud collection all has some similar dusty synthetic undertone that I slightly dislike. Yara line is the worst offender. Those truly smell cheap and screechy. The one you posted is probably one of their better perfumes. I find they only know how to do "blue" perfumes right. Ra'ed Gold Luxe is a 99% clone of K by Dolce and Gabbana. Liam Gold and Caprice are nice. Their "clones" are really 80% similar dupes most of the time. Technically great for the price, but if I love a scent, it's down to the particular blend. A slight change can be a completely different scent to my nose, and not what I fell in love with. On that, I absolutely adore original scents by "cheapie" Arabian brands. Those smell so much better than "designer" western brands, but I'm biased because I love Jasmine, sandalwood, and Oud.
