I found fruit varieties that are insanely sweet. Examples are cotton candy grapes and opal apples

>This apple has a soft yet crisp, cream-colored flesh with a sweet taste and a slightly tart finish. The taste has been compared to the Honey Crisp, with hints of pear, coconut, and banana. Opal apples generally look more like their Topaz parent, but owe their sweet flavor and crisp texture to the Golden Delicious.

>What are you craving right now?
I bought it less than 3h ago and I'm already finishing it, the pistachios and the kinder-like chocolate are irresistible. I haven't had a proper meal for lunch but despite binging on this I still want some spaghetti with tomato sauce.

Thank you so much for this thread nonny! The pic is mine of course wink

thanks for the thread anon, finally a support group for me

>What are you craving right now?

nothing because I'm already drinking soda (coke)

>What's your favorite treat or dessert?

soda, I also like chocolate croissants from starbucks and struggle not to eat one everyday

>Are you addicted to sugar?

yes

>Does sugar make you feel happier / more active / soothes you / etc?

yes, I always feel better after consuming a little sugar, more focused and better mood to get on with my day. without it I feel cravings for it nonstop. which is probably mostly a mental thing because one time I went a whole day without eating sugar and didn't realize it until the day was over. but I think it's still physiologically addictive like a drug. after a few days without it I start to feel withdrawals. the thought of life without sugar seems incredibly bleak and depressing to me.

>Are you trying to detox from sugar?

not actively atm, though I will be soon, because I really need to lose weight. I have tried in the past but failed miserably, it has been years since I went a whole consecutive week without consuming sugar

>Do you have any tips or resources for people who want to detox?

nope

UGH!!! I needed this thread… I gained like 10 lbs from eating sugar from stress…

>What are you craving right now?

Chocolate croissants from Starbucks… Such a nice breakfast for my morning commute!
>What's your favorite treat or dessert?
Sweets and anything full of sugar… I have to have my tea with about 5-6 packets of sugar (substituting with stevia now…)
>Are you addicted to sugar?
No… I just love eating sweets and once I eat something sugary, I crave more of it.
>Does sugar make you feel happier / more active / soothes you / etc?
Or
>Are you trying to detox from sugar?
Trying to not eat as much sugary foods since I gained 10lbs from it.
>Do you have any tips or resources for people who want to detox?
Not really except for replace sugary snacks with your fav fruit…

However, once I can taste it… I get cravings and the more I eat the more I want. Sugar makes me feel happy which is tough when I had lost about 40lbs about 2 years ago.

>Are you addicted to sugar?

Probably? It’s been a normal part of my life since I was a small child, so it’s never really occurred to me that people don’t normally snack on candy and soda all the time. I can’t say for sure, but I likely haven’t gone a single day without eating something that’s just a sugary snack with no other nutritional value or a soda/multiple sodas. It’s not even conscious decisions anymore at this point, only automatic reactions. I’m thirsty? Coke. I want a snack? Chocolate.

I'm trying a sugar detox because my appetite gets ravenous when I eat anything sweet. Even fruits like apples, I remember eating 4~6 of them daily and continuing despite feeling uncomfortably full.

>What are you craving right now?

Cashews…

>What's your favorite treat or dessert?

A soft cake decorated with whipped cream and biscoff crumbs

>Are you addicted to sugar?

Yes

>Does sugar make you feel happier / more active / soothes you / etc?

Yes, it's comforting when something depressing happens but if I eat it on a daily basis I feel sluggish

>Are you trying to detox from sugar?

Yes, I've done a sugar detox before but still continued using sweeteners. This time I'm going to minimize that and try and get used to bitter tastes.

>Do you have any tips or resources for people who want to detox?

* DON'T try to substitute sugar cravings with sweet chewing gum (doesn't matter if artificially sweetened) it hasn't done anything positive for me.
* If you really need to sweeten something, use unsweetened applesauce. I haven't noticed a side effect of it so far. (dont add it to coffee though…)
* This is the most basic and commonly shared advice ever that I am sick of hearing but drink lots of water. Always keep a cup near you and immediately refill when it's empty and keep chugging it down.

This fucking bastard cake from Costco!!!! It's so fucking good!!! I don't really like chocolate itself but I looove chocolate cake. This has layers of cake, chocolate mousse (with brownie bits in there too), and a top layer of ganache. It's as indulgent as you think it is. My dad and I went to Costco and I was like "haha wow look at the cakes" and jokingly was pointed this one out but to my surprise my dad said we should get it and anyway I'm fucked because I could eat the whole thing in one sitting.

I just love cake in general. Soft and sweet fluffy bread with fluffy whipped cream. Strawberry shortbread cake is probably my favorite, it's so light that I could eat tons of it without stopping. I love candy and cookies, but cakes reign supreme in my heart.

I definitely have a sugar addiction and it sucks but I've weaned myself off most sugary foods save for cakes and other sweet pastries. If we happen to have something like a big dessert like picrel I'll have a piece every day/every other day for a week or so, but I can go long periods of time without it or other pastry desserts because my main source of sugar now is fruit. I know I will have a hard time cutting sugar off in my life so if I'm going to have it, at least fruit is a somewhat better alternative.

Oof I will have to hide this thread.

I've been trying to go low sugar/natural sugar for a bit, because 1) health reasons diabetes runs in the family and 2) the dental bills kek. I had a bad habit of going to the store after work and loading up on shitty snack foods because it was cheap. I stopped doing that and lost 15 pounds and save some extra money. Pic rel is still one of my weaknesses though

For tips I would suggest trying to avoid sugar in drinks at all. Sports drinks and juice are insidious for this bc people think it is healthy to drink these after working out but you're honestly just putting all that sugar right back into your body. I don't like my coffee or tea with sugar but I will sometimes use a little honey if it's certain flavors. I've cut all soda except one that I have very occasionally and I don't really miss it it leaves a unpleasant acidy feeling on your teeth. Alcohol scares me though because even if it's not a sweet drink, your body converts it all into sugars anyway so I'm avoiding drinking for now.

For snacks I like dried fruits, esp strawberries and apples. They give a nice crunch and don't leave me feeling sick like most candy does now. Some brands do have added sugar though so I'd go with Bare.

>Does sugar make you feel happier / more active / soothes you / etc? sugar helps me when I feel upset. I usually binge when I'm unhappy because it soothes me and makes me feel happy and comforted.

I would like to just detox from junk food before I think about detoxing from sugar. at the beginning of the year I didn't eat junk food for the first 25 days. my ideal would be to not eat any junk food for 60 days. I wish I had resources for people who want to detox but I'm looking for them myself. I think meditation could be a good way to stave off cravings, I mean, to allow the feeling of craving to be but to not react to it. I've also heard brushing your teeth or going for a walk when you feel the craving come up can help.

sugar doesn’t cause type 2 diabetes! dietary fat does since it interferes with the transport of glucose into the cells which leads to high blood sugar, greater insulin secretion, and eventual insulin resistance. eating high carbs/sugar but low fat improves your insulin sensitivity. look up walter kempner rice diet - reversed diabetes by feeding patients white rice, fruit, & cane sugar.

the problem is people associate “sugary” treats with what are in reality quite fatty treats - chocolate, ice cream, cake, candy bars, etc. dried fruit is a great thing to snack on but there’s not much need to fear sugar i.e sucrose. sucrose is just glucose + fructose, chemically the same as what you’ll find in starches & fruits.

not so simple, nonna. its true that fat may be a stronger etiological factor than sugar, but the verdict is still out on if all sugar is really created equal. consuming refined carbs that have little to no fiber has been shown multiple times to be associated with obesity. diabetes is a risk with anything that makes you fatter quicker, and refined sugar does that. how do people get obese, and specifically the type of obesity associated with diabetes? thats the real question, personally i think refined sugar has a lot to do with it, and we should all’ stop. this thread has motivated me

The lemon meringue pie has too much of the meringue (the fluffy stuff on top) which is like toasted marshmallow but super light which can deflate and is only filled with the lemon custard. Whereas the double cream lemon pie, it has the lemon custard, cream cheese and thick whipped cream that just melts heavenly together when you eat it along with the flaky crust.

I looove dried fruits. Apricots, plums and raisins are my crack. Lately I've been making kompot with them and apples to satisfy my sugar cravings. When they cook they taste even better.

Interesting, thanks nonnie. I recently had the lemon meringue pie and you're definitely right that it was too much meringue. I also didn't care for the taste of meringue too much anyways so i'll try the double cream lemon pie some time.

25 pieces of anything would make you sick. Would you eat 25 mini cakes in one sitting? Cookies?

I love macarons too and they're so cute! Bought the ones from Costco as well (picrel) because buying them individually at other places are pretty expensive like $2 for one. Eating 25 of them would of course get you sick. Your stomach can't handle too many sugar foods if that's the only thing you eat. I eat like 1-3 a day if I get a box of these just to savor it and make them last.

Nothing fancy but I remember having orange kit kats years ago and then they just stopped selling them where I live. It made no sense to me given they sold other flavours that didn't seem all that popular. I'd see new flavours pop up from time to time and I'd wonder if mint or orange were ever coming back to my country again.

Just found a pack of the orange ones. Never thought I'd be so excited over a kit kat but I am.
