Anyway, have you tried literature? There's so much beyond YA drivel out there. Female writers I like are the Brontes and Colette. I'm sure other book lovers can recommend more. There are some female philosophers out there as well but I don't read much philosophy myself, so I can't recommend any.

I gotchu! It seems like you’re looking for general life advice but from a feminine perspective. Check out Tabitha Brown (Tiktok, Youtube or Instagram.) She shares chill advice about loving yourself, being comfortable in your skin, enduring hardships, etc. She has a very warm energy, feels like getting wisdom from mom. And she has some good recipes too!
There are some female artists out there that I feel have good vibes like FKA Twigs, Princess Nokia, Sampa the Great, Rina Sawayama, The Huntress and the Holder of Hands, Deap Valley, Eivør. Even if all the music isn’t to your taste, their lyrics or the thought behind a lot of their music is empowering, healing and often speaks to being a woman. They are unashamed of being themselves and interviews with them are usually interesting.
I don’t know if you’ll respond the same way, but for me reading about empowered women and how they live(d) their lives is also helpful. Check out Rejected Princesses for a lot of quick stories about amazing women throughout history. If any connect with you, you can always look for more material.
And it may not woman-centric, but CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is so useful in undoing really shitty self talk and concepts that you may have built around minimizing yourself as a person. My self confidence was literally at 0 despite being externally “successful” and it saved my ass from years of toxic
thinking and self harm. You don’t need a therapist, they can help but in the end changing your thoughts is in your hands. I recommend the book Self-Esteem: A Proven Program of Cognitive Techniques for Assessing, Improving, and Maintaining Your Self-Esteem by McKay. Sounds dry as hell but I promise it’s approachable and engaging.

I think morality is instilled through society, but I get anon’s fear about no women-centered self help. Society now is pornsick and favors non-binary folx over women, mothers, sisters, and wives, so where will we be without a counter-movement? I know there’s a r/nofap for women, although I haven’t read much of it. Female empowerment for me has come from watching second wave feminists speak on all the ways to embrace femininity - grace, nurture, intelligence, level-headedness, strength, ferocity, determination. It’s validating to see women live out these values while not compromising their morals or letting men push their boundaries. I love me some babyradfemtv on YouTube.

Not OP but thank you so much for this recommendation. I bought an ebook and it's so on point naming my issues, i have a lot of hope going more into it.
In general I kinda see what OPs talking about, a lot of self improvement stuff online is lowkey directed at men, like for example The Art of Charm. You can benefit from reading / listening to it as a woman too because a lot of things they talk about is universal but sometimes you just miss a female perspective, a female voice. Especially since there are some issues related to self esteem women experience differently because of different types of society outlook on these.

First thing that came to mind - "Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype" by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. It's a really nice read (it was for me at least). It's not a guide though, it's about feminine psyche, and what is really important, NOT from a crappy male view, not all this blabbering about 'demonic nature' of female sexuality and analysis through a lense of traditional gender roles. It's much more versatile.
Someone recommended music here. I can recommend Tori Amos, PJ Harvey. They're pretty popular though, so you probably know about them already. I've instantly thought about them while reading what this anon >>142764

Funny you mention this; I was debating mentioning Stoicism. I found it several years before CBT, and you're right that some of the techniques are similar.
Honestly though, Stoicism made me sad sometimes. I know thinking on the temporary nature of things is supposed to make you cherish the present and/or realize the bad won't be around forever, but imagining my friends/family/self dead was rough. It also deals with personal development in a pretty detached way, which was a double-edged sword because it helped me handle other people's negative emotions better, but didn't do much to help me handle thoughts about myself. Still, I keep a copy of Aurelius' Meditations on my shelf.

It's not a full copy but if you search for the site "book2look" with the title they have 66 pages available. That should give you a decent idea of what's in store. I imagine the authors would rather someone feel better/get support from their work than not read it at all, or at least that's what I tell myself.
The author is a PhD in Clinical Psychology. It's not a "woo woo" pointless feel good thing with inspirational quotes. It's a workbook that will have you doing the same exercises/homework they'd give you in therapy. (Can confirm - I spent some brief time with a therapist and she gave me worksheets that were almost identical.) Benefits to you doing it yourself: no crazy counseling fees, no having to talk with a stranger, you can go at your own pace and focus on areas that seem most relevant to you.
Everything is written in a simple way with examples. It helps you recognize and break down thought patterns and develop a more realistic view of yourself. I've suffered from depression since I was a kid and my self esteem was in the gutter. Now I don't loathe myself and even feel fairly content overall. I won't say I'm Queen Confidence over here, but I'm definitely a hundred times better than I used to be.
If you deal with a lot of negative self talk and are willing to put the effort in and actually do/write all the exercises, not just read it and think about it in passing, it will likely be a big help.
