I meant to post this a week ago but I was banned. I saw commercials for the new Napoleon movie and I have reached my breaking point. The actor they chose for Napoleon is so fucking old and ugly, despite the fact Napoleon was young. It is literally inaccurate! It is just as wrong as if they casted a black man to play him. In contrast, they casted a younger and attractive women to play Joséphine. Why the fuck can’t we EVER have a decent looking or at least young male character? There are so many issues with Phenoix’s appearance that would lead to a women being exiled from this damn planet.

Also something I know they're going to mess up is the fact that Fury Road is already such a good female-driven film. So good in fact moids were screaming about it being about women proper. This one is going to ruin that I bet you. Hollywood can only do girlboss and this is not the character to do that with because where Furiosa is previous to Fury Road would be with the villains or at least working her ass off to get to her position. To be good the movie would have to be showing her making serious compromises for bad people and working hard for them in order to get herself to a good place in society and safe. She'd need to be working her ass off for them or the movie would need to be her circumstances that push her to working for them in the first place. They're going so young so they can't make it a movie showing her figuring out the way to escape with the women (a movie I'd die to see with Charlize) or even her developing humanity to put herself so on the line and abandon her good position to save them.
I'd love to see a movie about a woman forced into a tough position, potentially losing herself bit by bit until she becomes another general, but I worry Hollywood's too chickenshit to do it. Especially with how aggressively mainstream the ad campaign is for a woman that made real men cry in the movie theatres

Painfully dragged on, not worth the watch and I mean that genuinely. You could tell they took A Clockwork Orange and Sleeping Beauty (2011) and said let's mix these two together. It definitely directly tried to replicate the whimsy of a lot of 70s art films, both in set design and in music. The movie gets less shocking the more she talks like an adult but the beginning is where it's the most pathetic since she acts like a literal baby. The whole premise, while I know taken from a pre-existing book, is like an old man masturbatory fantasy. I already know soo many men are going to dickride it and call it art. While the costuming was interesting, them giving her basically box dye jet black hair with no reflective hues that had glaring roots that made her scalp super wide and sickly looking with jet black, distracting caterpillar brows with no shape was so lazy given the painstaking attention to aesthetic detail. If they had thrown some topik powder on her roots and trimmed her brows, it would definitely be a nice mimicry of the softer 70s art film lead. That was such a weird choice to me. Like 3/10, the 3 is just costuming and fun deco sets that were actually man made and not completely cgi.
