In short, the reason I bring this up is because when "cosplayers" like this are blatantly guilty of such poor behaviour and when they choose to associate themselves with said cons, it really makes the organisers look like a bit of a joke when they makes claims that their cons are "drama-free" and "bully-free" zones. Since this thread is a scottish cosplay related. im going to take 5 minutes out of my life and adress my opinnions on exactly that
When i first joined in 2014 i found the scottish cosplay (or should i say anime) comunity to be alot of fun. they were very supportive of my cosplaying and hobbies. and i felt welcomed by them. hoever around 2 months after my first meet it became obvious to me exactly what as wrong with this comunity
i started off beliving it was only the odd 1 or 2 of them that were twisted like they are, jealous and bitter, not to mention at least 6 years younger than me yet giving me shit for not being as much of a cynical asshole as they are
the first person who was stupid enough to mess with me quickly learned how regretable a decision that can be. so instead of taking thier telling like an adult, which obviously they were not.
they went around spreading rhumours about me removing my clothing in a public place. and while many people pretended to be on my side its clear that given a 5 minute conversation behind closed doors, thats the polar opposite of what they really think.
only 1 person ever saw me actual remove my underwear from the bag i braught it and my sandals in. im not sure what blake saw, but since he was taking the pictures at the time. im pretty confident hed have seen the black pants I had on as i open and shut my legs for certian poses.
Something that suprised me when i enetered the comunity was the amount of people who had a thing for me. genuinly nice people. i had allways grown up beliving i was sexually unappealable to any man in the world. and tbh that belief wont change. but its simply not the case that thats why im single.
I have had offers, alot. but mostly from men, and mostly men who either can look past my midrif or men who refuse to accept how much of handful i can be. and thats why im single. because i am an adult i understand the complexities of sexual relationships and what they take to function. and some Kid just out of highschool or some 21 year old who thinks thier life is a scottish version of the hangover is something i find virginity to be more appealing over. Because unlike half of you here, id rather be untouched than unappreciated or disrespected.
On the issue of laurel. weve spoken. were talking, she helped me out, had my back, accepted my friendship. but in the past i know what kind of woman she was. i understand the angers certian people have with her. i may not have been around since the gold weeb years of this train wreck comunity, but i was around when the car crash started happening. and yea i blame myself for all of it, like most people do. tbh it was surviving before i showed up, i think the underwear thing started the match that blew the bomb is you get me.
but i wont accept it was all my fault. i didnt really do anything wrong. it was a lie and that was it. i cant PROVE it wrong, just pretend like i dont care. and move on. and while some people should say well why not leave the comunity. if i find something within the comunity wiorth sticking around for, then ill stay.
The problem with this comunity is not what its done, but the people in it
perhaps laurel is a good example to you, but to me shes a dot in the whole scheme of it. people i used to be great friends with were just plain arrogant as cosplayers, and i think you know who i mean. and even now, scottish cosplay has bread probabbly one of the most narcisistic, arogant, cross-phobic and downright BAD cosplayers ive ever seen (and its kina obvious who that is) and yet this person walks around conventions literally up in EVERYBODYS faces because they think thy're the coolest shit since vanilla ice.
the problem with this comunity is its not about cosplay. its a fucking personality contest. clearly i have to mch personality for people to handle, ir correctly concept. and now that ive grown out of my cringy weaboo phase (and god does it feel cringy) i can see much better the faces of those people who even though my agem stillr efuse to grow up and behave their age.
ive watched every single member of this comuntiy swing left to right on there opinnions abouyt me, and some of my friends. the way emma has been treated by the comunity is a fucking joke. Whatever issues people have with her at what point is outright stalking her going to adress that, answer, never. theres a level of badness and narcissism within this comunity that you dont see regularly. its like. we were all bullied at school. so now were going to grow up be just as viscious and snide, but they forgot that being bullied causes confrontational problems. thats why despite getting alot of shit from alex at raicon, and despite him being 3 feet away from me, he literally SAID . NOTHING to my face.
that whole shit about it being for the sake of not getting kicked out is just that, shit. i went to the bathroom often enough to catch me out. its so fucking obsvious what kind of people are in this scene.

I was 15 back when there were issues with CS. Fif-fucking-teen. And I wasnt exactly good with the socialising either. And the issue was I didnt like the fact the 18+ members just ditched everyone who wasnt 18+ to go for drinks, instead of ensuring everyone got to where they needed to go - got on trains, buses, were picked up by parents, etc - and then getting drinks. But that was almost 6 years ago, so…
I also genuinely don't go to many meets now because it is a bit awkward being 21 hanging around with a bunch of young teens who I don't totally share the same interests with? I'm not huge on popular anime, I prefer niche, stupid stuff, and video games. Not many others in the community do too, or at least not the ones that go to meets anyway.
Same issue with cosplay, most of them are from games no one knows, and I also dont want to wear them to general meets in case they get ruined before a convention
As for conventions, I can only really afford a couple a year, due to how expensive the one I go to annually in England is. £200-£300 for the ticket, accommodation and travel is not something I can fork out willy nilly. And I mainly go to said English one because it's 18+, relatively drama free (or at least, there is no visible drama or tension), and I have a lot of friends from the English community who go, that I otherwise wouldn't get to see other than over Skype calls or the occasional get together. And then after that convention, if I can afford any others, I'll go to them too. Conventions are expensive, and the likes of all the Scottish ones are just big dealers rooms with nothing to do and I get bored easily.
But try to explain these things to Sindy and they're clearly not good enough explanations, and are clearly also lies? Iunno man, I dont remember ever actually being banned from meets? I just go to them as and when I have the time to and can afford to.

Conventions, Megabytes etc are all private venues so they can ban people all they want but you can't ban someone from walking down the street with you unless you go through the hassle of restraining orders
