Hey farmers, what do you like to drink?

Also welcome: mixed drink recipes, best brands, tips for the bar, anything related to alcohol.

No. 79719

I can't drink anything straight and shots make me gag on the spot. I'm a huge noob but I always love mixing vodka with juice or some strawberry daiquiri once in a while

No. 79727

Ever since losing weight, my alcohol tolerance has gone way down. At 140ish pounds, I could take straight shots and chug the cheapest mass-produced whiskey from the bottle without a scratch. At 110 pounds, I dip my tongue in beer and get wasted. I still won't stoop as low as girly drinks like cosmos, though, ugh.

My body is the kitchen sink for all drinks, but in general, I tend to not buy vodka for at home mixing, and tequila only for special occasions. When I'm out at restaurants or happy hour, I go for Moscow Mules or anything with fresh herbs in the mix (not a martini fan). I do love Beer and that's what I get when I'm at a bar.

Yeah being light makes you drunk fast.

But girly drinks are good, and usually cocktails are higher in alcohol percentage than 'manly' beer. But cider drinks are truly shit.

I drink mainly Sobieski vodka with a diet coke chaser. When I'm out of soda, I chase it with water and pepperoni slices. I'm so.. unseemly.

Try being Mexican and bringing shame to the family because you can't handle it.

I don't have a problem with suggesting that women be proactive about not getting raped/assaulted (avoid getting drunk, don't go into bad neighborhoods, walk with a male friend). I also said that maybe it's not only women that should try not to drink so much. If men are that dangerous and naturally predatory it should also be their responsibility to curb their drinking in order to minimize damage. Yes?

But you don't care, the West has overly permissive immigration policies, women shouldn't tan because pale skin is best, you have some submissive 4chan pedobait with daddy issues to go chat up.

>I also said that maybe it's not only women that should try not to drink so much. If men are that dangerous and naturally predatory it should also be their responsibility to curb their drinking in order to minimize damage. Yes?

I agree. I just think women are more amenable to the idea of "hey, maybe you shouldn't drink so much because X, Y and Z" than guys are.

>But you don't care, the West has overly permissive immigration policies, women shouldn't tan because pale skin is best

Agreed.

Can anyone recommend some drinks to get, I just turned 21 last months so all my friends are inviting me to bars and stuff now. I really don't like the taste of alcohols unless it's fruity or sweet. But I can't order pina coldas forever, what are some drinks that are sweet or atleast masks the taste of alcohol to a good extent?

You can try a sweet wine like Riesling or Moscato. There's also creme de menthe. (Sorry I don't know much about sweet drinks, but maybe another anon can pick up where I left off)

Most bars will have special house cocktails and a lot of them are sweet or sweetish. If in doubt, you can ask the bartender.

Necroing this thread. To the anon who pointed out chartreuse in one of the threads on /g/ I love you but hate you at the same time. Chartreuse is fucking fantastic but it's so expensive. Now I'm broke. Any anons out there that can recommend something similar to it but not as pricey?

I'm a total vodka fiend. I'll drink any and every vodka, except for Amsterdam and Grey Goose. That shit tastes like straight up sharpie. I also like rum, moonshine, and whiskey. Stoli, Ciroc, Black Onyx, Jameson, and Belvedere are current favorites until I get sick of them for a while.

Magners, the alcohol free kind. I'm a loser dry shite.

I like most ciders as well as that German knockoff Baileys (Dooleys, I think it's called) though. For some reason actual Baileys makes me gag. I also tried whiskey with coke for the first time in my life yesterday and it was okay.

Personally, I found scotch to be lighter than bourbon or the alternatives.

Depending on your price range, I'm sure Aberlour wouldn't be too rough of a start. I'm not an expert, so maybe wait for some other anon to pitch in with ideas.

Blended whisky (Jameson, Johnnie Walker, Chivas regal) tend to be smoother and easier to drink/sip and mixes well.

Single malts tend to be acquired tastes since the taste profile is very different depending on where it is from. I mostly drink scotch so I can only really suggest whiskies from Scotland.

A good place to start would be scotch from Speyside which is either light (like a Glenlivet) or sweet and slightly syrupy (like a Macallan).

I like strong smoky flavours so I tend to steer towards scotch from Islay like Talisker or Caol Ila (though Caol Ila isn't from Islay which makes it smoky but really really smooth and too easy to drink).

Personally, I drink it neat because I feel like i get more of the flavours that way. Adding a bit of water or adding ice changes the taste profile. I find that if I have my scotch over ice, it makes it taste a lot sharper but not in a pleasant way. But experiment with it because it's really all up to your own personal preference.

I'm not sure where you are but some places will have smaller bottles for sale as well so you can try different ones without having to break the bank and splurging on a whole bottle that you might not like.

My standards don't exist. I love tequila and any sweet girly drink that includes it. My cheap ass fave is tequila poured into an Arizona mango.

Also I love buzzed balls. If you don't give a fuck and like cute shit I recommend them.

I go for normal mixed drinks when I'm drinking socially, but when I'm drinking alone (introvert) I always make some kind of large spiked lemonade so I'm forced to drink more water in order to feel it

Caol Ila is Islay. Tallisker is not.

From Islay and should probably know a bit more about the stuff. Though Bruichladdich is pretty light. It is all definitely an acquired taste. So no point trying to force it.

Ever since I went through rehab and had the dts, I can't drink stiff drinks anymore unless it's Jäger or absinthe or with a chaser. It sucks because I used to love whiskey. I think it's all psychological for me though. It reminds me of non stop puking bile for three days.
>>80255
If you're looking for skinny cockatiels try vodka cranberry, mojitos, or diet gin and tonic. I love pickle shots or a good tequila sunrise/screwdriver. I'm a big sake fan too, but bars don't usually have sake.
>>100168
I drink pbr. Same shit.
>>107741
I used to drink a 750 of whiskey/vodka and a six pack of 7% beer everyday at 100lbs. I even got banned from the liquor store I used to go to for always coming blacked out to get more liquor. I started drinking like a normal person again. I don't buy into the "you're an addict for life" AA bullshit. If you feel like you need to stay away from alcohol, do it. But if a few years down the line, you feel like you can handle a drink, do it. Just watch yourself and remind yourself why you had to quit drinking in the first place.

Congrats on the 11 months! It's nice when you don't look bloated and feel like shit all the time.

My go-tos are either long islands or AMF's (which seem to described as 'long islands but blue').

what sucks is that it stil typically takes 2-3 of these for me to feel a buzz when they're supposed to be mostly alcohol. I just can't do straight liquor. It tastes too bad.

…what's bad is that I'm typically self-medicating with alcohol for the past year or so to combat depression. Like, now I don't typically get a buzz when drinking 3-4 drinks of some sort… which sucks. It's now at the point were I'm trying to drink to feel something.

I recognize this is bad, but I don't know how to get better other than trying to appeal to my parents (whose insurance I'm still under, despite being 24, because I don't make enough to live on my own and pay for everything else. Like I could maybe have my own insurance but be in a position where I am living paycheck to paycheck if it weren't for my savings account. I am looking to get a new job once I get at least year's experience in my field so I am more sellable to employers) who have really been indifferent towards any previous mentions of me maybe having a problem.

But on my pleb budget, I typically opt for buying Aboslut Vodka in some sort of flavor and mixing it with those Sparkling Ice waters so I can feel like I'm getting some sort of vitamins when I drink lol.

For beers, Belgian and brown. I can get them easily in stores where I live but aren't that common in pubs unless it's a place targeted at beer enthusiasts. I don't handle beer well, since I always go for the stronger one, chug them down fast and just make me dumb as a brick and sad half of the time. Blond beers can be ok when they have this "flower" taste but a heavy brown beer with this coffee/caramel/chocolate kind of taste is the best

For wines, red and french if possible. It's my current favorite alcohol. Make me feel drowsy and horny at the same time. Still hard for me to guess what could be a good bottle in a store, but I'm fine even with plain table wine. It's too damn good. I like the smell, the stains it lays on everything, the heavy taste…

I have very few experiences with fine/expensive liquors. Really like rhum-based cocktail when well prepared. I'm used to cheap vodka but can get smashed with pretty much anything.

My father was a drunkard, so I (kind of) watch myself but I'm prone to use alcohol as something to help me communicate, socialize and getting less anxious and self-conscious but I should be drunk most of the time to be efficient, and it's expensive and not healthy at all

Pic related is also something I like a lot

Shit anon, as a fellow self-medicating alcoholic I know that feel when trying to get that buzz without going broke. If you have something like a Costco membership I highly recommend getting bulk liquor there. Even their store brand stuff is pretty decent and cheap. I also eat less on days when I know I want to get fucked up so I get there faster.
