What do you think of her fashion?

Not the OP

But I think her fashion is kinda cool at the same time… just really weird? I feel Rookie is a bit of a 'try hard' thing. Trying to be all Enid Coleslaw and Daria sorta thing…

No. 6148

i have always been annoyed by it. i don't really like people who try really hard to be quirky. annoyed in the same way i'm annoyed by zooey deschanel.

Try hard

hella try hard.
There's a fine line between being edgy or out-there and trying too hard.
This crosses it.

Wow I'm surprised she went so long without negative feedback while being huge in the blogging world. I wondered if she really was fashionable but right now after seeing these responses I'm not so sure? She does look Tumblirina-ish

It's because she started when she was like 12 or 13 and people were amazed a kid that young would be successful or whatever.

Like Maddie Bradshaw with her bottlecap necklace business? Btw I think she can be a lolcow based on how she bullies small businesses.

Eh? Do tell us, we'd love to milk more out of this tale

More details on this story. Maddie was on Shark Tank but Shark Tank backed out of the deal. when you search "m3girls bottle cap necklace" it's one of the first things to pop up. Used to be her business website which is no more for some reason and no one explained why. IDK how true this is (don't want Maddie sending a lawyer to sue me) but quite a few people allegedly have a problem with her.

TL;DR, allegations against Maddie:

>Shark Tank withdrew their offers on her business because she is a bully

>she makes lawsuits against competing small arts and crafts businesses because she claimed to have invented bottlecap jewelry which was actually created before her works and they look better than her poor artwork
>Outsources to China despite saying it's an all 'murican business

Not really like that person, no.

Tavvi used to be a fashion blogger as a kid. Her older sister was into fashion and had a blog so tavvi's blog was basically a runoff of her sister's but more successful simpy because "wow a 12 year old with such fashion sense? Amaze." The blog was called fashion rookie or something. Eventually it became the rookie website and then rookiemag. I may have the history a bit wrong but this is just what I remember because I used to follow her and her sister's blogs/lookbook/etc.

She has always kind if had a special snowflake attitude as you could imagine being a highly followed fashion blogger at a young age. She really took the grunge/tumblr feminism/90s revival and ran with it, but teen girls like her tend to be pretty drawn to that aesthetic.

I'm the anon you replied to and I honestly have no idea who this person is. I was just giving my opinion on the initial impression I got from it.
But there's a lot of people who get notoriety for being try-hards in fashion blogging bc they're breaking some sort of image, but their looks just don't seem natural or work with the image their face or posture gives off and that's the part I never understand: sure, you're in your teens and this look isn't expected of a teenager, but you need to own it more.

I thought so. I just wanted to know what other people thought of her fashion. I wanted to design fashion one day and wanted to know if that is what the public really wants? Anyway enough of that. I think she has grown into the style more. When she was a child she looked kinda awkward.

I love that look, i'm not sure if she styled it herself though. As I recall that was one of her fashion week looks. That photo was taken ages ago, though, I don't think she was over twelve at the time. It would've been like… 2010 or so.

She's not interested in fashion anymore from what I glean. I'm not a fan of rookie (teens! glitter! flower crowns! seks positive feniminsnm!), although I do appreciate their publishing reputable, realistic advice about difficult subjects for tween girls.

Rookie Mag sounds like tumblr. Flower crowns and all
