The sister is dressed in the spiderweb dress: it's Ariadne who gives Theseus the ball of thread to get out of the labyrinth in the myth. Elordi with the wings could be a clumsy reference to Icarus, who isn't in the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, but after Theseus slays the Minotaur & escapes, King Minos punishes Icarus & his dad out of suspicion. Anyway, the writing is lazy and sloppy, I think the most important aspect about the spiderweb dress and the wings is that both are methods for escaping the labyrinth & monster, but Keoghan kills them both before they
are able to escape.Even though I've written this analysis above and it might sound educated or sophisticated, I think the writing is pretentious and fails in its attempt to create any meaningful link to the myth. So this is sort of an off topic blog so feel free to ignore me I just thought I'd post this here because there's been a lot of discussion of Yorgos Lanthimos itt. I had only ever seen Dogtooth and it was a long time ago but I remember the style of it being uncomfortable and a somewhat difficult watch due to the disturbing nature of the plot and scenes. The dialogue was awkward, there were a lot of scenes that seemed to linger on too long, and certain scenes were creepy and disturbing. But a lot of the strangeness of it made sense to the story, like the adult children of the parents acting like kids because they were raised to be shut ins with no life experience. The father paying for a prostitute for his son to keep his son from leaving to try and find a mate. Them telling the kids they can leave once their "dogtooth" comes out, knowing that will never happen but giving the kids false hope to keep them shut in at home waiting for the time they finally leave. But at the same time I remember scenes that didn't make much sense and seemed to be shoehorned in for sexual purposes. Like the tutor tricking the daughter into going down on her. The scene of the daughters naked in the tub asking their brother who he'd rather have sex with. I guess you could argue those scenes were to add to the discomfort of the movie and to show how fucked up the family was, but some of it seemed very pointless to me.
Tonight I watched The Killing Of A Sacred Deer and immediately noticed the same strained, awkward dialogue, the lingering scenes, the strange habits to add to the obscurity of the characters. I really liked the camera angles taken from a distance, giving the movie an expansive feel. The music seemed to match the mood most of the time. I can immediately tell it was the same person who did Dogtooth based on the style alone, but this movie failed so hard in comparison. The storyline had so many holes, a lot of the poor decisions of the characters had no explanation, the strange behavior of them had no reason behind it. And the sexual scenes were so pointless and added nothing to the story, why was it important to add Nicole Kidman laying naked pretending to be unconscious so her husband can get hard? Why did the father tell his very young son that he jerked off his brother as a kid? Why did Nicole have to give a handjob to the anesthesiologist for info on her husbands patient? It didn't have significance to the story whatsoever. I've seen arguments that this was done to add discomfort but if that's the only way he can make the audience uncomfortable, with bizarre sexual scenes, than maybe he's not the artist everyone touts him as. Maybe I'm just dumb and the meaning of the movie went over my head but it strikes me as some pretentious artsy scrote throwing together a bunch of random, weird occurrences and aesthetic shots to try to make the movie seem deep and like only like minded artsy types can understand it.
Lastly, seeing the same elements of incest, pointless nudity, lingering shots of bare feet and young girls legs (there was even a scene where the character of the daughter strips down to her bra and underwear and lays naked on a bed, I'm sure she's of age but she literally looks 15 in the movie) and obscure fetishistic material just makes me think he's a gross perv who uses his movies to fulfill some fetishes of his and make the audience subject to it. And with the description of Poor Things I'm even more certain of that. Sorry this is so long(not your personal blog)

I get that they had fucked up home lives but how anybody can turn out like that, live their life like that is beyond me…and others make them famous, not out of fun/hatewatching but because they idolize and root for them…?
Last week the husband of Chrisean's sister got killed by cops at a gas station because Chrisean somehow called them on him.
